STAEDTLER 371 C60 Pigment Arts Brush Pen - Assorted Colours (Pack of 60)

A set of 60 high quality brush pens, which differ from normal water based pens in that these have a pigment based ink which means it bleeds through paper less and also resists being spread by water once dry if used in mixed media. They take very marginally longer to dry than standard water based markers but do show the streaking that is universal with such markers. The 60 colours verge a little towards the intense and darker ends of the spectrum as is shown on the swatch (done on Ohuhu 150gsm marker paper). I can confirm that water does not move the pigment once dry, and I tested bleed through on a variety of papers and can confirm I did not get any bleed through on 90gsm drawing paper or better or in colouring books printed on good quality paper (e.g., Joanna Basford) making them very useful for double sided colouring books. Very poor or thin quality paper (such as amazon printed colouring books) do, however, show a little bleed through. The nibs are medium to firm and slightly finer than many, making fine detail easy, while enabling faster shading by using the side of the nib. Although substantially more expensive than general water based brush markers, these are aimed at a different market with people who need the permanence and vastly reduced bleed through and given the price point of comparable performing markers (e.g., Faber-Castell Pitt Artist), offer good value for money. I also note the existence of a blender fluid for these markers, which adds to their versatility, although this only works well on certain paper types (please see the review on the blender fluid for more information).

I purchased these Pigment pens from Staedtler to see if I liked them as well the Pitt Pens by Faber Castell. The set of 60 isn’t available yet in the US so I ordered from the UK. I was thrilled with how quickly I received them. They are juicy and in just my swatching they seem to be good. The pros are that they cost less than the Pitt Pens and have a very tiny nib size. The cons I see (so far) are that the caps don’t close tightly, so I’m hoping that they don’t dry out and the colors on the caps can be very misleading. Also, they have some colors that seem to be almost identical. From what I can see they also aren’t sold in individual pens, so you can’t buy a single replacement. I will say they don’t ghost or bleed through the paper at all, which is terrific. I think they have a pretty nice range of portrait colors as well as a good assortment of regular colors. I won’t be giving up my Pitt Pens for these, but they are a nice addition or cheap alternative for folks who don’t want to or can’t invest in the Pitt Pens.

Good pens, great colour selection packing shows the attention to detail that you would expect from a higher price point. It’s all card but well designed sturdy slots for each pen and it has little elastics so you can lift out each tray with ease and without pens rolling everywhere ‘which I can’t state how happy this makes me when brands get this right’. I can’t get colours to blend but I’m not sure if it’s just not meant to or my technique is wrong for the product.

Lovely pens with a great selection of colours. Very easy to use and great at blending as there is a good ink flow from pens. I also liked the fact that they are smudge resistant.

I love all the new colors! These pens are my favorite type. They are easy to use. The tips are a little fragile, but the ink is great and never bleeds through paper!

Got these for a great price on offer with Amazon UK. I already have the full set of Faber Castell artist Pitt pens to which these are a great complement! The colours are different enough to justify having both sets, there are more skin tones in this set and some beautiful greens and muted shades which are my favourites. Definitely worth the purchase. Very happy!

Very disappointed with this purchase. I buy a lot of art supplies and am happy to spend the money, but these are not a good buy. Three of the pens came with the lids off so are bone dry. I considered keeping them but actually they are so cheap looking and not a great addition to my art stuff. I also think that if you are going to sell expensive art supplies then you should be caring about how they are received. There are other complaints on here about the pens being dry. I am returning them.

I am amazed by these markers, they do not show on the reverse except on books with very thin paper. If no design on the reverse it's great, they are giving us colours with different hues so I can mix them. What is missing is a blender I tried the ones I have to no avail. I hope that they will give us more colours in the future. Having colours in matching; light, medium, dark and a blender. I just ordered and received a set of 12 pastel colours, the same as in the 36 set but were a real good price. I am dying for the 60 pens set supposible to come some time.I will keep an eye on them and buy when good prices. These markers are fantastic for coloring books

Fiz varios testes e adorei as canetas. São leves com a ponta brush media perfeita para desenhar e colorir. Me surpreendi com a quantidade de tinta que sai das cores mais escuras. Elas misturam bem, principalmente quando são da mesma familia de cores. Não me arrependo da compra.
