Great to hear the evolution
Talk Talk is one of my favourite bands. I still remember the night I first heard Spirit of Eden. I don't think they've done anything to rival that album - Laughing Stock is a good album, but it's missing something. But Colour of Spring is a brilliant album and within it are the seeds that grew into Spirit of Eden. To the point where when I listen to Chameleon's Day, if I'm using my music player I sometimes think that it's moved on to playing Spirit of Eden. The first two albums, The Party's Over and It's My Life, are good albums too. The Party's Over is a great example of the genre. New Romantic, I've heard it called, but I've always used New Wave for the music bands in that genre produced - Visage, Utlravox and on into the likes of Duran Duran. And It's My Life already offers plenty of hints of where the band is going.I've listened to these albums over and over in the last few weeks because even though I got Spirit of Eden back in about 1994, I had never heard any of these albums. I'd heard Life's What You Make it, but that's it. And I sort of feel like I need to make up for lost time because the songs really are good.If you like Talk Talk and you don't have these albums, get them. Even if you only listen to The Party's Over once, it's a good listen. And the others, especially Colour of Spring, are gold. And if you've not heard Talk Talk, but are interested, these albums offer an introduction and and lead-in to the brilliant Spirit of Eden. The latter is an album that can be difficult to get into because it's somewhat experimental and very much melancholic. But all are, for me, rewarding listening experiences and I know that there'll be many evenings when I turn off the lights, put on my headphones and let the music on these albums take me away.

A much overlook band, finally gets released on CD.
Nice to see these albums available in one package, it’s their best and it’s all here in one place and on CD.

Great music, good value, but only for Talk Talk newcomers.
Well first off I’d like to say that as a Talk Talk fan this cd package of their first 3 albums does offer great value at just under a tenner at the current price. However, I must point out that you get no sleeve notes or any additional music than what is currently available – which is a shame. So if you already have the original cd’s there is little to get excited about here. But if you are new to Talk Talk you get to hear how they went from an early eighties synth pop band to something altogether more musically exciting. The transformation from “The Party’s Over” to “The Colour of Spring” is pretty incredible. Don’t me wrong, the early synth stuff is good and the song writing on show, but by their third album you get to hear what the band wanted to sound like as opposed to what the record company wanted them to sound like. And of course the two follow up albums, “Spirit of Eden” and “Laughing Stock” demonstrate the band pushing their musical boundaries even further, to stunning effect. They went to from synth pop to something very much more organic (for want of a better word). The last album “The Colour of Spring” is clearly (in my opinion) the strongest album here, and really showcases the bands more experimental side, the music is thoughtful and emotional, with a more experimental jazz feel. The musicianship is fantastic. So for each individual album check out the reviews, but there’s not much harm in taking a punt for this price.I would give the music 5 stars but as a package this could have been better (3 and half stars), the cardboard sleeves are pretty mediocre and no inserts or info on the albums is a shame and a bit of a wasted opportunity. So how you would rate this really depends on whether or not you have any of the material already, if you don’t, it’s good value, if you do, nothing new here.I have added a photo next to my other version of the cd to see how the compare. The 3 cd set does seem cheap in comparison but at £3 a cd I suppose you get what you pay for.

Most underrated-hidden treasure... Nothing compares...
Talk Talk are maybe the most underrated band of the 80s. Whilst they did start with some pop, it quickly evolved into beautiful mature works of art, both in music and lyrics. This triplet of albums are their first three albums. While many fans consider Spirit of Eden to be their best, I disagree and think that It's my life and Colour of spring are their best. On "It's My Life", the album, Songs like: Such a shame and it's my life are very well known classics that still sound fresh and progressive today compared to all the new stuff out there and even in comparison to regular 80s pop but songs like "Tomorrow started", "Renee", "The last time" penetrate the heart of me everytime I listen to them. Similarly, on Colour of spring "Living in another world" is a tower of glory almost like a rich layered landscape of wonderland and so forth... and as an album both these two albums are my favourites and they feature on my top 10 albums of all time. The PArty is over, is a great album and do enjoy it and certainly better than any new pop out there ... it is just forever underrated and hidden like the other triplet fellows. Talk Talk and Mark Hiollis are a unique, cut above the rest talent that has not and will not be repeated.. so I advise that you go get these albums (at ridiculously low price for three classics that have and will stand the test of time). Excellent trio of albums, modestly priced
Despite the fact that Talk Talk was widely played when I was a teenager the band really passed me by. So at this point in time, deciding to give it a go, it was not so much a rediscovery as a discovery, and I’m quite pleased with what I found in this package.I’m not very keen on the first album, but the other two are very good indeed. The music has that distinctive eighties flavor but in contrast with quite a lot of other contemporary stuff it doesn’t sound dated. In fact, it sounds excellent. Combine this with a bunch of fine songs and a very recognisable lead voice and we’re on to a winner. So, while invoking some nostalgia these cd’s provide some genuine listening pleasure.

Great variety of music
Talk Talk's music is very emotional. Pop songs are good on the first release, but they got better after that with the wide range of musical genres from the second release and on.

Better than buying all of their albums
I just like the music of the 80's and 90's. I will let the others describe the music, to save time.I really bought this set to get all of my favorite songs from Talk Talk, cheap.I prefer to buy the CD's for now, someday I will get back into pressed vinyl. I hate to buy the songs digitally all you get is compressed MP3's (crap audio), at least this way I can record them in lossless FLAC or WAV files
