20" Razor Blade with handle
I'm a professional 40 year old city-dwelling American so, yeah - I have to have one of these. Practical? Maybe more so than the Katana - but I Need one of those, too okay? When they come to take my guns away they've got a surprise waiting for them

Poor Craftsmanship!
The seppa/spacer on the sword was way too loose... the blade was inconsistently sharpened... From the tip to the middle was dull. Not happy with the sword and have sent it back for a refund. I bought this for my husband as an anniversary gift and was so unhappy that he was unhappy. I have ordered several things over many years from amazon and this is the first time I have had to send anything back...

Very much what I have come to excpect from Hanwei products. My only disappointment was that the blade was not sharpened completely and required quite a bit of work to finish it off. Some parts of the blade were almost flattened off like an iaito.

Well Done for the Price
Sword came lightly oiled. Edge is consistently sharp throughout (I nicked myself a little during a fumble, very lightly, and it cut quite well, heh). Spacer seems tight. The handle wrap and rayskin are attractive, and provide a good grip. The brass fittings (habaki?) are a slightly worn black over brass and provide a nice finished touch. The dragon menuki in the handle isn't done super well or of high quality, but sits tight in its fitting and the handle wrap runs over it tightly. The finish on the scabbard is matte, with a slightly mottled overlay of semi-gloss texture that is grippy and looks good compared to other scabbards of high gloss finish. Scabbard seems to be made of a polymer material (or perhaps wood covered in a polymer) and inlaid with bamboo strips all the way down on the interior for the blade to slide on.Very happy with the purchase for the price point. Will probably look at Hanwei when I go to purchase my next blade.

Not the best steel
I thought this may be good to train with compared with my full katanas. I happened to have in my truck when I was deer hunting and as I had to butcher the deer to get it back this seemed ideal. I was disappointed with the burring that deer bone did on the blade. I honed it out but the blade is definitely not as hard on the edge as claimed.
