Good Quality. Ez install. For Residential. Flood Protection works with Safety drain at top of SINK!
Good Quality for price and EZ install with standard long pliers. Install with pliers parallel to ground, not with pliers at angle. Set pliers to right grip size and torque. Squeeze plier ends until you feel max bite. Plier arms will flex when the optimal grip has been established. Turn pliers slowly and repeat until unit is tight. Nothing wrong with the supplied nut its an industry standard. This unit has the rectangle openings cut in pipe front and rear to allow water to drain from SINK OVERFLOW HOLE at TOP OF SINK!!! This unit allows you to install a grid style drain instead of "Pop Up Lever operated drain." This unit is LEGAL to use as per National Plumbing Code and will protect your home from flood if Drain GRID gets plugged and water gets left on. Public bathrooms like in parks have the no openings in drain pipe but are in commercial applications and regulated by different part of National Plumbing Code. You will need Plumbers Putty. Put a 1/4 in ring of Putty around top of sink hole. Then slide drain into sink hole. I like to add putty underneath the bottom of sink hole before I install both plastic and rubber washer. But not necessary. Tighten the steel hex drain nut nice and tight. Some Putty will squeeze out as you snug hex nut. Remove excess putty with thumb after unit is tight. This will seal the grid drain collar to sink hole and prevent leaks around the sink and drain collar. Also this is two piece drain. Make sure the metal tube that threads into grid drain is nice and tight also. Once grid drain is tightened to sink use plumbing pliers to tighten the bottom tube to grid drain collar. You can also tighten bottom tube to grid drain before install. Set unit flat on workbench. Hold grid collar with pliers and tighten the bottom tube with second set of pliers. There is an O-ring between the two sections so do not over tighten. This works better for inexperienced installers because it can be difficult to do under the sink and cause drain grid to turn off center as installed from top if you are not good with tools. If you follow these plumbing standards you will have no leaks. I bet those complaining about leaks did none of work to properly seal unit in both locations. This is a nice PART. Comes in nice recyclable cardboard box also. Buying a second one for my other bathroom.

Not a very good connection for the pipe to the drain
The connection for the pipe to the drain head has short threads with no seal like connection. I added teflon tape to treads to keep from leaking. I'd recommend a drain that has a better connection.

Ok
It took a bit to get it to stop leaking. After tightening a few times the leak stopped. Perhaps if the threads where roll formed they wouldn’t cut the seal.

Works well, ordering another!
Overall, not bad. The tail piece is metal, and is a bit difficult to get a good seal. The nut is a little hard to get a grip on but it held up and didn't get too marred in the process.

Hoes are too small to allow air to escape
The whole is trapping the air bubble every time there's no overflow on the vanity. I have to drill the holes out with a step drill in order to allow air to escape 👎
