The Summer Book

I love Susan Branch Books, this one was no exception. Such a sweet cozy book, full of recipes, and delightful summertime memories, ideas and pictures. It was such a cozy read, that I read from cover to cover.

Another gorgeously illustrated, beautifully written cookbook by the gifted Susan Branch. Many cooks in our family own this already, and even if you’re nowhere near a stove or grill, the charming colorful drawings and inspired text of memories, whimsy and wisdom are worth enjoying again and again. And the recipes are fabulous too…essence of summer. Just buy it if you come across a copy!

I love Susan Branch books; however, I gave this one 4 instead of 5 stars because the font is so tiny on every page, it's hard to read. The recipes and notes are lovely, just wish the font was bigger.

This book is beautiful arrived very carefully packaged and in fabulous condition!

Susan Branch has captured Summer and pressed it between the pages of this book. Read it in a hammock, read it barefooted, read it with iced tea or lemonade in hand, read it with the summer breeze playing with your hair, read it with sand in your shoes. This is a lovely book, an enjoyable cookbook, a heartfelt diary. It is filled with beautiful hand-painted pictures of all the things we love about summer. Her use of quotations and little snippets from classic authors make this not only a summer joy but a pleasure to read anytime of year. This book reminds us of the summer days we left behind and the summer days we look forward to. If you love the Summer months, if you love picnics, if you love long, lazy days at the beach, you will love this book.

I ordered a new book and what I received was a used dirty book with pages dog eared. I paid a lot of money for a new one. Very disappointing. The cover was smudged with food the pages were stained. Not good.

Beautifully illustrated with Susan Branch's lovely commentary and recipes move over winter I can almost feel the sand beneath my feet.

As always Susan Branch has filled a book with delicious recipes, wonderful illustrations and great tips for being an amazing host.
