Affordable all SSD Network Attached Storage with Unraid / Virtualisation
I just purchased the LincStation N1 and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I feel this is a cheaper and more versatile competitor compared to Asustor Flashstore that I have decided to skip on in favour of the LincSation N1. This device has exceeded all my expectations in terms of performance and software flexibility. Firstly, the setup was a breeze. I appreciated the user-friendly interface and straightforward instructions, which allowed me to get up and running in no time. Whether you're a tech novice or an experienced user, you'll find the setup process to be seamless. Easy to install the storage drives and setup the unit via network cable is simple. *Did not test the WiFi yet, as its only available via hardware passthrough only. In terms of performance, the LincStation N1 truly shines. Its powerful hardware ensures smooth and lag-free operation. (4 core CPU + 16GB RAM helps a lot, as most of the competitor in this price range only offers 4 or 8GB ram) I've experienced no slowdowns or hiccups whatsoever, which is a testament to the device's reliability in my opinion. Moreover, I have tested the 2.5GbE network connection on large media files, and I'm delighted to see that I consistently achieve transfer speeds between 250-280MB/s, which is exactly what I expected from this interface. (See pictures attached) It's reassuring to see the device perform so reliably under heavy network traffic. In the future, I intend to add larger drives and utilize Unraid's VM feature to install a Windows server. Then, this will even allow me to run a business backup software called; Veeam backup solutions. Configuring immutable backup storage in my home lab environment, I can safeguard all my work and projects, providing an added layer of protection against ransomware attacks. I can't wait to test out this configuration once my budget allows for larger NVMe drives. I can update my review on that later on of someone is interested. I'm impressed by the device's ability to handle such demanding tasks. With 16GB of RAM, it's more than capable of running a full-blown Windows VM alongside the Unraid OS, providing a seamless and efficient workflow. If you are on a market for a home storage NAS, this device is also perfect as storing media files, pictures or running applications like Plex is a breeze. This unit can fulfil any users home needs. I tested some docker features as well, works as expected. This one unit can do all for me. It will be my NAS Storage, Host for my virtual server and docker images and Plex as my home media server. I could stream 4K video content to my apple tv without any issues using Plex. Overall, I highly recommend the LincStation N1 to anyone in need of a reliable and versatile media player and storage solution. Its exceptional performance, ease of use, and robust features make it a standout choice in its category. Five stars without a doubt! Get this instead of QNAP or Asustor Flashstore product if you want to save some money.

If it works brilliant...if you rely on customer support you might as well throw it in the river
The only reason I am giving this one star is customer service.Managed to get it set up and services running was absolutely brilliant, solved all of my needs and wishes .....but then I updated it...at which point it refused to recognize the usb drive...so I replaced it as they were not able to solve, 3 months down the line my license ran out and I was unable to do anything locked out of the box....so far apart from sarcastic/snarky emails from support I have an expensive box that I cannot access

Game changer
With my 7 years of experience on QNAP/Synology and DIY NAS, I would say this is a game-changer. First of all, as for accessibility, all of its NVMe and 2.5" slots have a tool-free installation design, as shown in the picture, which is very convenient. Also, as an all-flash NAS, it runs in a completely silent mode, while you can clearly hear the disk noise from my old QNAP server (with Ultrastar He10 disks). The UNRaid OS, which is a famous distribution, normally requires a dedicated USB flash drive to host the OS image; however, this LincStation N1 comes with a built-in 128 GB eMMC with UNRaid preinstalled. The 1-year license key is included in the package; you can redeem it using the SN and activation code online. I also noticed that someone gave a one-star review, as he spent £2000 on 3x 8TB SSDs but did not figure out how UNRaid works– I wanted to say, you'd better go for a Synology as it is noob-friendly. UNRaid is designed for homelabbers who know what they're doing.

Mostly good
Worked great until it broke. The main problem I found was that support were difficult to contact and initially very slow to respond. Once they eventually made contact they were very good and got me back up and running but it took a while. It’s a great system for the price and the team are genuinely helpful but don’t expect a speedy response.

Low Power NAS As A Low Power Mini PC With 6 SSD Drives, v1.01
As is, the LincStation N1 comes with Unraid. That has lots of tutorials in print and YouTube and also a help line and forum. Some people can do good things with this. Me, I found it too difficult so I needed a different approach. What I need the machine for is as a low power media centre. I tidied up my machine by deleting what I had managed to install. Left click and select delete. Then switch off, unplug the Unraid mini USB stick from the nvme bays, then plug in a Mint Xfce install disk and power up. Install needed the N1’s drive to be suitably partitioned and that can just be part of the install. OS, Home work disk and Swap. Later CHOWN to change the ownership of the Home/Work disk partition. I also added KDE and VLC to get Mint the way I prefer it. Then settings and I am still doing bits of that. Do that, the six drive indicator lights will be flashing continuously whenever the machine is powered. Annoying. Anyone who is comfortable with UnRaid will find files on how to stop or control that. It is best done from UnRaid rather from the replacement OS. Me, I note that the lights are behind the folding metal front panel, so I folded it down and painted the area of the lights. A hidden plastic rectangle so it can be neat. Before Covid I would have used Humbrol matt black, now I used whatever I had which was thick black acrylic. Two coats, a day between coats, and it is neat. Where the Asus-tor has an advantage is that it has a cooling fan so it might run a dvd jukebox at lower than 60C, but it's also bigger than this and more expensive, too.

I recently purchased the LincStation N1 SSD NAS, and I’m very pleased with my experience. This compact and lightweight device has been a great addition to my home setup. The system is incredibly quiet, which was a pleasant surprise, and its sleek design fits seamlessly into my workspace. The hardware workshop is well-designed, easy to install the SSD, setting it up was straightforward. The quality of the building is solid. It comes with an Unraid license, though I’d suggest starting with the trial license to explore the system before committing to the included one. Additionally, I want to highlight the excellent customer service. They were responsive and helpful, answering my questions promptly and ensuring I had a smooth experience. They care about their customers.

This looks like a very good product. Unfortunately, the one I received appeared to have been opened. The box was not sealed and appeared to have been opened. I started the initialization process for the free 30 day trial. It did not start where it should have, but at the next step to change the password. Someone had obviously logged in already with the default password. The process for activating the trial produced an error. I also noticed that on the top of the page it indicated an active time of over seven months. It is going back. I may try to purchase one directly because it looks like a very useful product when new.
