Excellent camera for a very reasonable price, produces clear video.

Easy to set up with a phenomenal battery. To those that said they could not set it up, make sure your phone or tablet is running on the 2.4 GHz part of your router, not 5Ghz. If need be just set up a guest network onto 2.4Ghz. and use that for set up as after you can control from 5Ghz. The camera was found instantly has free three months of smart detections even though they do make things a little slower because it has to be processed by the server its not that bad but I’ve turned them off but the camera has excellent image quality, fantastic night vision with just the infrared, the spotlight is so bright I’ve had to turn it off because it will probably frighten the way the wildlife and disturb the neighbours. Well worth buying the XL for the extra battery life even though it’s bigger in length. My only quibble is the mounting is really fragile and if you undo it too much it all falls apart which is easily done, the outdoor mount you can buy separately is a lot more robust. Also make sure you have a powerful charger preferably one that is Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 compatible as the battery takes a long time to charge otherwise. Also a note on security your router really needs to have a setting called PMF because otherwise somebody can de-authorise your network and hack in via the camera, a lot of very modern routers especially AX (Wi-Fi 6) ones have that feature as it’s needed for the WiFi 6 standard.

Forget about 12 month battery life claims- maybe, in very low footfall areas, if you are lucky. But say on the front of your house, a normal Arlo lasts as little as 2 weeks. This will last a minimum of about 6 weeks before neededing to be recharged. You'll get months in low footfall areas.Therefore the XL is a huge improvement over the standard Arlo cameras.My advice, dont bother with the 4k- hardly any difference in picture quality and they can use battery more quickly. Get these 1080p XL cameras for the best experience.I now have had Arlo for maybe 5-6 years, and now have 10 cameras all over my house not an inch is not covered lol, but this is because I am gradually replacing the standard Arlo with these XL, and moving the standard ones to other parts of the garden less used, so I have cover where I did not have it before.

bought this to put in the garden, it has lost wifi connection a couple of times over 3 months but bring it closer it reconnects and then it's okay, the BIG problem is there is a 3-month free trial and at the end of it you have to subscribe, I knew this and for £2.79 a month fo one camera I thought it worth it, but it is problem with the payment on the site, it only accepts credit cards and Paypal and neither goes through (we've tried 4 cards, 2 PayPal and on 2 different computers). the support has been looking into it for 3 weeks as they acknowledge it's a problem at their end but I'm stuck with a camera that's no good without the subscription. real shame as the functionality of the camera is great, shame about the service

I got a great deal on this (to the extent I bought a second).There are two aspects to this review - with and without the subscription.It's probably worth pointing out that I got these for wildlife watching.With SUBSCRIPTIONThere is a high level of customisation.- Manual Alarm- Microphone- Video settings (low light etc)- Activity Zones: Motion detection in a restricted area (so you can exclude areas eg moving trees- Video Recording: Automatic when detected, and you can also set video recording manually. Videos go into an Arlo cloud library and are stored for I think its 48 days (certainly over a month) and are then auto deleted. You can download the stored videos to your local device before they are deleted.- Activity Periods: so you can set it to run overnight but not during the day, for example.- Manual photos, which go directly to your local device- Motion Detection Notifications, which include a snapshotWITHOUT SUBSCRIPTION- Alarm- Microphone. I've made great use of this, telling the crows to get off the bird table :)- Video settings (low light etc)- Motion Detection Notifications without snapshotOverall its a great camera. However, had I not been forced to take a 6 week automatic free premium upgrade, I not only would have not got a second one, I probably wouldn't have even kept the first!Yes, I still love the picture quality, and shouting at the crows.However, the removal of the facility to take a photo directly to my phone really hurts, and I'm pretty peeved about this one as it requires no server space or processing on their part. This is just plain mean.I original got Arlo because it's part of SmartThings, so I could sit and watch the bird table on our Samsung TV (our landlord has forced us to put it 30ft away in a part of the garden with no overlooking windows) . This was pretty ropey - half the time it wouldn't connect (fine using phone, so defo SmartThings and not a network issue) .Then when the TV bit the dust and we replaced with an LG, that was SmartThings gone. The LG hasn't the processing power to run video in its browser, so I have to use Edge on xbox - a pain in the rear.So really, think carefully about what you want long term, and do a full lifetime costing with subscription. I may just end up dumping and getting another brand, simply for the ability to take snapshots of tweets on my phone - cheaper than a subscription!

Pour moi, les caméras ARLO font figure de référence en matière de caméras de surveillance extérieures. Ce modèle de base ne déroge pas à la règle et la qualité d'image est très correcte, voire même bonne pour le prix. Accompagné d'un panneau solaire, c'est tout bonnement le TOPAttention toutefois, il est quasi nécessaire de souscrire un abonnement pour bénéficier des services d'avertissement de détection.

Très bonne caméra, fonctionne très bien et apparemment robuste.--> Dommage que l'on ne puisse pas occulter des zones de non surveillance.(Par exemple, le coin supérieur droit empiète sur la chaussée. Donc à occulter)
