Initial review (update at the end): This is my first time using Rust Bullet and I am pleased with the results so it won't be my last... BUT... It's difficult to work with. It is extremely tacky and begins skinning almost immediately. At first I thought they might have sent me an expired quart because as soon as I opened it, it began to expand into a thick foamy mess that started to spill out the top of the can, but I quickly went ahead and poured some out, mixed in a bit of solvent, loaded it up and went to spraying. The results... Really really good. I sanded using the suggested 80 grit and did 6 coats, the adhesion and hardness is amazing. The color options (white/black) do mostly limit it as an industrial paint as even though you can add a different top-coat the Rustbullet makes for a super solid top-coat. UPDATE (08-25-24) I've been repainting a bunch of jobsite boxes using this stuff so I thought I might expand on my review. Even though the results were good for the initial quart I ordered, I do think that first quart was past its expiration date as the paint I've ordered since has been of typical viscosity, hasn't foamed-up/skinned and has been easy to work with. A hardner is probably rarely warranted with this paint as after 24 hours it seems around 70% cured and by 48 hours it is 90% cured and is rock-solid. But with that said this product does not store wiell and should be used immediately after opening; I've been using the pint-sized to spray the jobsite boxes (spraying 5:3) and doing ~5 coats on ~25 sq feet before it's been depleted.

I have rust that keeps reappearing on my steel garage doors. I've tried sanding, scraping, rust converters and other brands of rust preventative paint but the rust keeps bleeding through after about a year of weather. Only time will tell if this product works any better or if I'll have to replace the doors. Applies similar to any oil based paint. Took about 3 brush coats to get good coverage. Very glossy finish. 2 year update: It's been a couple of years and the rust has eventually bled through. I suppose this product holds back the rust than standard hardware store rust paints... but in the end rust ALWAYS wins. I still have the quart can from 2 years ago. I was careful when closing it back then and I even put it in a sealed bag in the hopes that it would still be useable in the future. To my surprise it was...so I put more paint on the bleeding rust and transferred the remaining product to a glass jar with a sealed lid. Maybe it will be useable again a year or two. We'll see.

This paint is great protection for the iron railing on my deck. Previous high-end paints, even with oil-based primers did not hold up to UV rays. They required repainting every year or two. Bullet paint lasts 3 to 5 years in this application. The paint is a little difficult to use because paint in the can will skim over quickly once the can is opened. Use a thin plastic film in contact with the paint in the can to extend the work time. Also, don't count on this paint to store for long periods. Once open, it must be used within a few months. When painting, it is easier to use disposable brushes instead of cleaning your brush. Foam brushes worked well.

A LITTLE COSTLY AND NOT EASY TO WORK WITH. COVERS NICELY BUT DRIES QUICKLY AND DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR SKIN OR ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT PAINTED. IT DON'T WANT TO COME OFF ONCE IT DRIES. SO FAR IT HAS DONE IT'S JOB. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS IT IS NOT USER FRIENDLY IF YOU WANT TO USE IT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. MY SUGGESTION IS GET ALL YOUR PREP WORK DONE AND DO ALL YOUR PAINTING IN A DAY OR TWO. OPENING AND CLOSING THE CAN WILL DRY YOUR PAINT UP QUICKLY. I USE GLASS JARS FOR PORTION CONTROL OVER A COUPLE OF DAYS...SEEMS TO HELP.
