Can’t fault Arlo!
I was really impressed with the first version of this camera. The resolution, and clarity on this latest version, is noticeably much better. The ui is very straight forward, and easy to navigate through. Arlo has always been great value for money, and I’ve never had any issues with network connectivity. A perfect purchase, to monitor your home whilst on the move. 👌👍

Great indoor camera
Great camera for indoors, I can open and close the privacy screen using the Arlo app on my phone no matter where I am. It’s wired for power but connects through WiFi. Sound quality is good and you can set the area for motion detection on the app too. It’s quite expensive for what it is and I’ve seen cheaper that could most likely do the same job but I have an arlo subscription so it made sense for me to get this one.One thing I would mention is that to watch past recordings you will need to buy a subscription package with Arlo although you can watch it live without (I think)

Plug & Play
It’s not the best quality camera these days but it’s a budget one that works over WiFi. It’s great for checking in on pets.

At present not as good as we hoped for!!
This could be an unfair review but I have to say it as it is!! Just for information we have 5 external Arlo outdoor camera's which are performing really well and have no issues with those. However from day one of setting up our Arlo indoor camera, it has been troublesome. I researched the issues that I was having, flickering screen when looking at live pictures tried adjusting the flicker rate but no difference. It appeared to be when trying to watch live view at night to make sure the dog was ok. Obviously it was useless and couldn't see a thing. I checked by turning off each appliance one by one to see if it was interference but still no joy. There were no lights on so it shouldn't have been caused by lightning etc?I have now moved the camera to a different location making sure there are no I.R reflections. The other problem is it takes ages to connect when clicking on live view?If these issues are still ongoing , I will send it back for a refund. Its not a cheap camera, in fact at £120 it's expensive for what it is but I didn't expect these issues especially as my outdoor camera's are working perfectly and have done so from day one.So at this point in time , I'm really disappointed with it. I will update this review if the issues are cleared up from what I've done so far. I'll give it another few days if the camera continues to be troublesome it will be going back to the retailer.Positives are when it is working correctly the clarity of the picture is excellent.I have only rated it as 2 stars for now but if the problems are cleared up, I will relook at it.Update to this review 2 days later. A little better but this camera is highly sensitive to IR reflection. The flicker problem I think was caused by the top of an open internal door. The camera was originally on top of a cupboard and I think it was too close to the open door. Since I moved the camera and mounted it directly to the wall that problem has disappeared. However the flickering is back in the morning when there is a transition from night to day. I don't think it affects the recordings but it's annoying if you want to look at a live view, so I have to turn off the I R mode. Of all the other makes of indoor cameras I've had this is the only one that has caused issues. Its such a shame as I never expected this from Arlo. I'm 50/50 whether to send it back but because all my camera's are Arlo I wanted them all on one app?Another issue that's just appeared intermittently is the picture turns a shade of green in the daylight, so I'm going to have to look that up to see what's going on.Did not expect these issues but I have upgraded from 2 stars to 3 ??

Streaming to Alexa stops after 30 minutes with no indication that has happened
I bought one Arlo Essential Compact Indoor Plug-in Smart Security Camera to monitor our latest rescue dog when we start to leave it for short periods, and also to get a feel for Arlo with a view to buying further kit to monitor the driveway and rear of the house (that plan has now been cancelled - see below for why). This indoor camera only works on the 2.4GHz WiFi band, which is an issue - we've had various bits of kit conflicting on the 2.4GHz band (WiFi, Bluetooth, 2 different Zigbee meshes etc), so I've shifted almost all WiFi stuff to the 5GHz band as that has more channels available. I want to limit 2.4GHz WiFi usage as much as possible so want to avoid adding anything new that only uses that band. After setting up, the free trial period for the subscription kicks in, so the full range of functionality is available. The smart detection stuff works well, identifying people, dogs and packages. The configuration options for notifications are a bit limited - if we were to buy more cameras, we would want to be able to set different notification options for different cameras, something that doesn't appear possible. I'm not sure what we will do when the free trial period expires - I'm not a fan of subscriptions, so I lean towards getting a SmartHub and using local storage, then seeing how well it integrates with Home Assistant. Having said that, the current price of the subscription is not unreasonable given the infrastructure it pays for.In use, the camera initially appeared to be very useful, not just monitoring the dog, but also (when I'm working in my home office) letting me know the moment the dog appears by the back door, and also letting me monitor the washing machine and tumble dryer remotely (I can clearly see the lights using the camera). The functionality for monitoring smoke and carbon monoxide detectors could be useful for some, but we now have separate smart detectors for those, so won't be used by us.One thing that doesn't work as well as hoped is the Alexa integration. Using Alexa on an Echo Show, Meta Portal and LG Smart TV, the video stream from the camera freezes after 30 minutes. I queried this on the Arlo forum and I was informed that it is by design that video streaming stops after 30 minutes. That it stops without informing the viewer that it has stopped is a major problem for me, making this camera pretty much unfit for purpose for me. The image on screen could look like everything is ok, but in reality the image has frozen and disaster is ensuing without being shown. Had it not been for that limitation, I would have given this camera 4 stars (in fact, I did before I realised about the limitation). With that limitation, it's one star from me. Note that the answer I was given in the Arlo forum said that this same limit applies to all Arlo cameras, other than a legacy baby camera.

Great value.
Unfortunately purchased my first camera in the official website. This one is exactly the same at nearly half the price with prime day discount.

Works well, howabout the supporting software is not very user friendly.
The privacy plate covering the lens is a good idea, but someone should think of a much more flexible, user friendly management method. It's a nightmare until you figure out how to program it, and eventually it doesn't work the way you want it to.
