This kite reel works perfectly. I used it to fly my P51 Mustang kite. Easy to put up the kite using the thumb brake feature. Brought it down quickly with device. Just reeled it in. Tonight, I ordered another for my Delta wing kite. It's make kite flying a breeze. No pun intended. Now I'm definitely getting a 3rd kite. A third device as well. Happy kite flying!

I have been an avid kite flyer most of my life. I didn't know how much I needed this. I didn't know that kite flying could be even more fun and magical than it already was. I bought a less expensive reel and wasn't happy with the quality. I decided to pay a little bit more and get a better reel. This reel was less than twice as expensive but far more than twice as good as the cheaper reel. It is sturdy, well made, well designed, smooth, and easy to use. That thumb brake is a game changer. I absolutely recommend this reel.

I bought this to replace the old string and reel for the kite I had when I was young so my kids could use it. It works great, it's comfortable and easy to use for my 6 year old and for myself. The brake is smooth and easy to use as well as the lock. The reel itself is smooth both letting line out and reeling it back in. I plan on buying a couple more once we get the kids their own kites.

Line tangles pretty easily when getting your kite in the air initially when there is some slack in the line. The handle space is slightly cramped for my size hands. (I wear size L/XL work gloves if that helps) Other than those two issues the device works great when not tangled. Reeling is fast and smooth. The thumb brake to stop the reel is great as well.

I fly big hard-pulling kites and this thing seemed like a no-brainer, something I absolutely needed to have. The truth is, it is made for small hands and the line gets tangled fairly easily if you are not vigilant about keeping it wound tightly. The build quality is great, although it's heavy. Maybe with more practice I will like it better!

A bit small but not too small. I was most concerned about the lock and it's worked flawlessly the five times I've flown. Better than I expected... I'll probably buy a few more exactly like it.
