The Field 7 is the best large BT speaker to date.
I’m back with another speaker review, help, and Sony has really knocked it out of the park with this one. I’ve mainly used my Boombox 3 for comparison against the Sony Field 7, and while Theodore Roosevelt said, “Comparison is the thief of joy,” he wasn’t wrong—it’s tough to resist comparing speakers side by side. The only area where this Sony doesn’t excel is in the sub-45Hz range, though it still gives it a good try. While the Boombox 3 rumbles a bit more in that low-end, this Sony more than makes up for it in other areas. The ULT2 in this Sony decimates every portable system I’ve heard. The sound separation is fantastic, allowing every layer of your music to shine. Battery life is impressive, too. I left it unplugged for about a month, using it nightly for about an hour, and only after 30 days did the charge light come on. That’s serious endurance. The multipoint connection works seamlessly between my tablet and iPhone, making it one of the few systems that hasn’t caused me any frustration. The lighting is another standout feature—far brighter than I expected. Unlike the dim ring lights on the SRS 300, these lights provide enough glow to add some nice ambiance, though not quite enough to light up a room or throw a strobe party. And durability? It’s built like a tank. You could even turn it on its side and use it as a stool. Overall, this speaker delivers in almost every category, making it one of the best I’ve encountered.

Great speaker, Amazon, not so much.
Speaker gets loud and has a lot of bass. A great feature set. I wish they would have given it a proper tweeter dedicated for the high frequencies. Overall don’t regret buying it. Two in paired stereo mode is awesome. As far as Amazon though? I bought this speaker after I decided the UE Hyperboom that was on sale seemed to have some longevity quality control issues. For this Sony speaker however, Amazon lowered the price $100 two days after I purchased and because they suck, wouldn’t just do a price match even after talking to someone on the phone. Nope, they want you to buy a new one and return the “old” one. Well I had already opened the speaker. I was so impressed and knowing that I wanted to get a second eventually, (something I had also wanted to do with my old portable speaker) I ordered two more. Then I immediately returned one of the new unopened ones back to Amazon at the higher price because they don’t care about wasting time or fuel. The funny part is after being told they wouldn’t price adjust, when I initiated the return process, they auto offered $89 off to keep it. (Already ordered the two new ones) Now that is basically 20% off their regular price. (Also of note, when they discounted the price $100, they used a higher price as the point they were discounting from in their sale to be able to say it was 30% off when really it was about 22% off the price I paid days prior. More shady business practices.) While a part of me would have been willing to maybe forgo the $18 difference ($10+ tax) between the offer and what I paid just to save some environmental impact, out of principal, I made the return for my extra $18. GFY JB.

I bought & compared them all, THIS IS IT!
Sound geek: I bought & compared the larger Bose JBL Sony and Soundcore, this one was the best sounding BY FAR! I do like the Soundcore (yes more than bose or jbl) one for carrying around to the beach n other dirty outdoor stuff as its cheapest among them and easiest to clean but for EVERYTHING else, the Sony Field speakers are my absolute go-to pick as the batteries last forever and the sound is definitely the best. Only minor gripes are the annoying flashing of the ULT button and the BT volume notches are too jumpy; solution is to use the buttons on the unit its self. But seriously, these are great, Sony did it again. I’ve honestly been impressed by most things they make. Typically solid performance and pretty much bulletproof. Like the honda or toyota of electronics.

Perhaps a little toooo deep
I've previously used 4 sony Bluetooth speakers since a first try with a little SRS-XB32. I saw this become available at a good price after reading some good reviews and had the spare money to replace a big and nice sounding SRS-XG500 that I moved to another room. This is louder and defaults with much heavier bass than what it replaced. Sometimes I'll just be grooving with great music at a loud but not deafening level and the bass content is just too strong, almost shaking the room. Fine if it was a party perhaps but I think I had to tune it a little and take out some bass. However, it does sound great. The biggest criticisms are that Bluetooth is nice and tidy but it drops out a little for a beat occasionally. That's annoying and a wired speaker wouldn't do it. It doesn't sound like a mono source but there is little stereo width due to it all being in the one box, getting good stereo definition would require buying two and grouping them as a stereo pair, or you could keep your head a few inches from one (might as well buy headphones at the same price/quality). Plus, the Sony "Music Center" app for making configuration changes can be a pretty flaky, crashes all the time on one of my recent Samsung tablet models but not on the other. While I can create speaker groups it will only create a "party" group from two same speaker models. I have a pair of SRS-XG300 speakers and grouped as a "stereo" pair they fill a room with great stereo sound but I can't group one ULT Field 7 even with my SRS-XG500 as a "stereo" pair even though they have similar volume and sound. The built in lights are a nice party trick but not much use for anything else, they'll waste enough battery power that I don't normally bother. Non-flashing, calm daylight color can make a nice dark room background that's dimmer than a lamp and better power saving than room lights while reading a book from tablet but aren't bright enough to permit reading a paper book in a dark room.

Was impressed 👏. Hard to impress me 🤣
My speaker came fast and brand new sounding great. Great balanced highs n lows, bass, tremble and all. I was surprised it came that fast from newark new jersey to newark california. I was thinking in a week. Good seller n customer service.

Sony is always a solid choice...
Excellent sound quality - even when you use the bass boost it does not overwhelm the mids and highs. It is easy to pair with two phones/DAPs/whatever at once. I love the minimalistic look of the speaker as well. It is not very heavy and is thus easy to move around. I am planning to buy another one and use them in tandem which I can imagine will be incredible from a sound experience standpoint. I dont think they get as loud as JBL speakers this size but I will take that L for the superior sound quality. I have used this outdoors (not in any extreme weather conditions but normal sunny to cloudy cold days) and havent had any issues thus far.

Amazing sound quality
I watched several side by side sound tests on Youtube with several speakers I was interested in purchasing. I first purchased the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. It sounded good for it's size and cost but I was looking for something more. So I then decided to upgrade and try the new Boom 2 Plus by the same company which was a little more expensive with more bass and more watts of power. It was good but only to a certain point. I liked the bass but the highs sounded muffled. I wanted to go into the app to adjust the EQ settings so I could bring out those highs but was never able to do it due to the problems with their app. The speaker was not listed on their product page for me to download it so I was never able to adjust the EQ settings and was bummed out by it. I watched some more side by side comparisons on Youtube of other speakers and was impressed with the Sony ULT Field 7. After watching and hearing a few side by side comparisons of it against other speakers, to include the Boom 2 Plus, I was ready to purchase it. After I received it I put it thru it's pace and was quite impressed with it's sound quality after hearing it live. It brought out the full spectrum of the music and sounded more dynamic and powerful through out it's range. There was a spacious atmosphere of sound quality coming out that didn't sound like it was coming from a speaker box, but instead from a more expensive high end audio source. I was quite pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone else.

One of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market.
I love my Sony ULT Field 7 Wireless Bluetooth. On its ULT2 setting, it pumps out the sound!! You want bass? This speaker system has it with more power to spare. When I first got it and tried it, my grandkids could hear it *clearly* over 150 yards away. As loud as I had it turned up (about 2/3 volume) there was no distortion. It’s unbelievable. The only downside I can see with this system is its size (a little over 20” long) and its weight (14 lbs.). It has good hand support on the ends for easy carry.

Sound quality is outstanding
This is a superior product. By using the XE Equalizer app with this, the unit produces crisp clear mid range, high notes with a rumbling bass that's pure and pleasant. Within 30% of the volume, the music is soft, rich, powerful bass that's absolute bliss to listen to. By having water and dust proof rating, the unit can be cleaned with spray water and can be used on the balcony with no worries of a rain spray. Buy with no doubts, it is full value for money. Enjoy

You Get What You Pay For
I'm not goig to write a long winded technical review about how spectacular this product is, but just tell you how our experience with this product went. 1- the buying experience was great, payed for it and at my door in 3 days, no hassles. 2- unboxing went flawlessly, no drama, meaning no visible problems with the speaker or packaging themselves. Man is thing ever got some weight to it, 14lbs I believe, feels like a quality build. 3- the powering up and pairing of the speaker with my IPhone went by with no issues, did just what I felt I needed to do, which is pretty intuitive! 4- using the speaker... I was simply blown away on how far we have come in the field of bluetooth speaker technology, mind you this product is not cheap by no means, but I did manage to snap it up at $100 off on Amazon Canada. I had a $500 gift card from work as part of a 25 year work anniversary! I kicked in $63 in on top of that. 5- the sound is amazing, I mean the JBL may be on par with the ULT 7, don't know, but it also seems worthy just going by the online reviews. It looks like a solid contender that's for sure. But I decided to go with the Sony as I have a few Sony items around the house, Suround Sound reciever, PSP's, PS4 etc... I have been a Sony fan for a long, long time, so for me this was a no brainer. There is plenty of base just in the default setting let alone the ULT 1 & 2 base booster settings. I set it up on the back deck and had some guests over for a BBQ the same day I got the speaker. They we're blown away on just how good the speaker is, even the wife who thought I was crazy to spend that much coin on it was like wow, what a great sound that was coming out of it! I think she is very happy with it but will never admit it to me! 6- I should mention something about the battery life on it's first night of use. We set the volume at about not quite half, the speaker was delivered to us with 60% battery life and in an evening of 4 hours of play time streaming from my Iphone the battery went down 1%. Incredible! My guest was immediately on Amazon looking up this speaker.. despite his wife nagging him about buying it just on a whim, LOL! Conclusion, I think this is just one of those purchases in my life that was just worth the $ that was put out for it. Like I said before, you generally get what you pay for. All in all, we are very happy with it, no regrets!
