This multi-tool is excellent for casual campers, hikers, beginners, young boy scouts, and DIYers who need a compact and versatile tool at a low-cost option for basic or everyday chores. The tool is best used for basic tasks around a campsite or for quick fixes at home. However, it's not a heavy-duty or "survival grade" piece of equipment; a Leatherman is what your after. So if you're looking for a rugged, durable tool for demanding use or wilderness survival, you should invest in something else. Parental guidance is required....we purchased for a beginner/youngster.

This is the tool you want to take with you when you are not at home. It's rugged and has quite a few "attachments" . The price is higher than one would like but it does seem like a quality product. It's a bit heavy but that' s to be expected. I'd recommend it if you're in the market for a "higher-end" multi tool.

I am a fan of Bear Grylls, and I own multiple products endorsed by him. Usually, they are practical and of great quality, but this time, this tool was somewhat disappointing. First of all, it integrates various tools such as an axe, knife, bottle opener, saw, and screwdriver. Undoubtedly, the biggest advantage of this tool is its multifunctionality. It can be used for chopping branches, cutting ropes, opening bottles, sawing wood, screwing screws, and more, covering almost all situations one may encounter in outdoor activities and daily life. Although it has many functions, this tool is well-controlled in terms of size and weight, and it comes with a nylon sheath for easy carrying and storage. Whether placed in a backpack or hung on a belt, it won't take up too much space or cause a burden. Bear Grylls' products are known for their durability, and this axe is no exception. It is made of high-quality steel, capable of withstanding various harsh environments and high-intensity use. The handle design is ergonomic, providing a comfortable grip even during long periods of use. However, the sheath that comes with the axe is not the Kydex sheath advertised on the website; it is made of a nylon-like material and has almost no stitching, leaving the blade exposed, which almost caused an injury during the initial use. When using the pliers, the axe and hammer are directly below the palm, making the handle of the pliers very long. For me, not only does this create an awkward angle, but it also feels somewhat unsafe. Additionally, I couldn't find the advertised fire starter and whistle in the instruction manual, perhaps lost during transportation.

I've had a few of the various and sundry Bear Grylls items over the years. They have all been better than average, but not great. They've also been relatively inexpensive compared to big name items that are similar, but there is often nothing quite like them. This is true again. One thing that is not super... only one. The hatchet cover is a flimsy canvas one and not the tough-looking plastic one in the photos. A minor point. I will likely make a new one out of leather. I find this to be heavy, but in a good way. Everything is intuitive to use, and the steel is stout. This makes it a heavy item to take backpacking, but if you're going backpacking and need to carry all these items separately it will definitely weigh more. The individual pieces are all better than many of the cheap combo-units, and they all fit well together and are comfortable in the hand. Will you ever cut down a tree with the axe-head? Maybe after a month of trying. Will you skin an elk? It would be really slow with this knife. No single piece is "best" at what it is, but together it's a VERY handy set of tools that if you were the character in the novel "Hatchet" you would have an even easier time. I don't have this for car-camping, but it's in my car now along side my SOG fixed blade knife, 100' of paracord, a pair of stout leather gloves, matches, lighter, TP, plastic sheeting, flashlight, etc. This covers a lot of survival ground, and even if it dies by the end of a single survival situation, I'm confident that it would get me through it better than pretty much any multi-tool I've ever owned. (I've had a dozen or more that all died or failed to function even basically.) If you have any reason to have a "Ten essentials" or "Go-Bag" this is one thing you will want in it.

Piece of junk. Broke within a couple of chops with the hatchet. Returned it.

I've owned some other multi-tools in the past that even have more tools on them than this one, but they were missing some of the most key components that you need for survival such as the ax-head that this multitool has. You can tell Bear Grylls and his team put some deep thought into this from actual experience. In fact I would give up some of the tools on my other multi-tool devices just to have that ax-head, because there's so many times when trying to survive that you need at least a small ax to cut through bigger wood. The great thing about this design is that it still small enough to carry on your belt and yet large enough to swing a decent little ax-head. That longer length also gives you some leverage with the plier tool as well. And this is the first multi-tool I've owned that actually has a fire starter stick built-in as well. I didn't see it in the product listing photos or in the product description but if you look at my photo you can see the stick where it's pulled out. Everything about this multi-tool feels very solid. Everything folded smoothly and yet stayed firmly in place when locked into position. This is now the main multi-tool that's hanging on my emergency go-bag!

Bought this for my husband as a gift and he absolutely loves it! Well made and compact for camping etc.

Over all great but the whistle part of the whistle fell out. Now it's just a little plug bit I guess? Rest of it is great though, used regularly.

I was expecting o more agresive look, biger axe, looks generic, is heavy, I hope is heavy dutty when I need it.
