Great fit in my Halliburton Zero
First, this foam has a great look and feel. The two-tone, black and red coloring works great for identifying the particular slot for each tool. The Red really stands out and shows all of the details of the shape that has been cut through the upper layers.Speaking of cutting, the foam was very easy to cut with just a regular utility knife. I started out using a regular utility knife until I realize that I needed more depth. I then switched to one of those cheap break off style utility knives because it extended out a good 3 inches. This made it possible to cut through all of the layers at the same time for trimming the general shape off of the edges. The blade was also narrow enough to cut tighter angles as well.I have an old Halliburton Zero briefcase that I haven’t used in a long time which I had been thinking about converting to a toolbox for my electronics equipment, such as multi-meter, signal generator, and other doodads. As it turned out, one panel of this foam fit perfectly between the back of the briefcase and the latch. I did have to add an inch and a half of foam, however, to the side, and about of an inch on either side of the latch to completely fill the compartment. That worked splendidly. I just make sure that none of the tools straddle the seams that were created between the cut sections. I am also planning to insert a piece of foam board on top of the foam but under the lip that runs around the circumference of the main compartment to use as a bezel. I will then cut the openings in a way that covers those seams, which will also keep the sections from pulling out. Then I’ll cover the foam board with carbon fiber vinyl to make the whole project look more professional and deliberate. Then, it’s just a matter of tracing each tool on the foam and setting the blade depth to match. Due to the clever layering design of the foam, I remove the excess, exposing the red layer below. I do kind of wish that the red layers extended all the way down to the bottom of this foam sandwich so that the larger tools would also have a red backing if cutting down to the bottom layer is needed but the solution is to cut the black layer out of the bottom under the tool and add a red layer from another foam section, easy. All things considered, I really like this foam and believe it will help to make my life just a little bit easier which is always welcomed.

Exactly as advertised
These foam sheets are exactly as advertised. They are a thin black layer with four pink layers and another thin black layer. This is on the 16x12x1.5 inch 4 pack. I'm still deciding if I want to try to cut them with a razor blade or fashion some kind of heated wire. It looks like the razor blade will work fine. The sheets don't look like they will crumble or break up in either case. They are durable and thick and will protect my items quite nicely. They are like a rigid sponge in that there is some give but not much.
