UNSATISFACTORY
Friend referred me to this series so I bought Book 1 & 2 together for good reading on an airplane flight. Absolutely loved The Cartel Book 1, finished it over a single weekend which is not unusual for me. Went into Book 2 intrigued as to how the author was going to follow up the story line only to find that the author went back in time to one of the characters childhood ...... WTH you brought us all the way through Book 1 only to start Book 2 out with someone's childhood :( Then the author continues to kill off characters, never expands the storyline or enhances the storyline. I finshed Book 2 wondering how the author was going tie up the loose ends since he killed off all the main characters from Book 1 and it all supposed to be a dream. Read through first few Chapters of Book 3 thoroughly FRUSTRATED, miraculously main characters are alive all over again and we are being dragged through a scenario of the characters be tortured ....... NO THANKS not buying another book in this series! So many directors that the author's could have gone with this storyline ..... SMH ...... twists and turns are fine but rehashing killing the same characters ...... adding a sprinkle of new characters ...... boring ..... very disappointing!

Ridiculous
First let me say this series came highly recommended. I'm disappointed in the nonsense that I had to suffer through. Book 1 was good, Book 2 waste of time but pretty decent reading & Book 3 terrible. Young Carter was weak but took over when his estranged Dad died. How do you kill you brother for killing the woman who was responsible for your sister kidnapping & rape, your stepmother's death & who tried to kill the brother who killed the woman who started the mess just dumb. I never understood why add Haiti earthquake in the story just dumb. Why didn't Breeze being an American citizen didn't ask to use the phone or go to the embassy just dumb. Either the authors hated Breeze characters or something because they really allowed so much to happened to her. Another point if the family knew Breeze was so vulnerable why didn't they train her to shot a gun or defend herself just dumb. These were the weakest gangster except Mecca. That knee grow was the truth.

Speechless (know the said final but...?)
Do not even know where to begin. So I'll go by character:Miamor: It is clearly known that I never cared for Miamor's character. Oh, she help make the story great, but she played a major part in the Cartel's demise and the riff between blood. Look at it like this, what if Mecca did confess to killing Monroe and the truce was not broken, Miamor still would have gotten at Carter and his family for her sister's demise despite her guilty role in it. So, I am I happy that the book opened how it did? Hell yeah!Breeze: My heart goes out to her. She paid the worst toll for her family sin seeing that she was so innocent.Zyir: Could not help but love and admire him. I could respect that he is flesh and would fall into the devil's trap that is Illiana. But what upsets me is that after finding Breeze, and Carter putting him up on Illiana's jealousy, he still let her be around Breeze. Come on now.Mecca: From the beginning I could not stand Mecca's demeanor and did boarder line hate him when he killed Monroe despite understanding how it could happen. Let us be real, if in Mecca's situation and witnessing what he did, would you be able to just show Monroe love? Please! But Mecca was a coward because he did not own up to it and helped in the demise of the rest of his family. However, in this finale I fell in love with this new Mecca and as you get to the end it made sense the drastic change in him.Carter: Despite still being in love with him, Carter's character was my biggest disappointment. His love for Miamor I admire and despise. To see a love so deep is beautiful but after finding out what her plans were for him and his family and still have that burning hate for his brother who saved his life is the saddest. On top of that, he never found out why Mecca killed Monroe. He talked about disloyalty, but Monroe crossed a line that should have never been crossed. While murder surpasses Monroe's betrayal, Mecca deserved redemption for it considering the circumstances. Hell, if Leena could forgive...? Therefore, Carter was seen as the weakest because Miamor clouded his judgment and I hate him for killing Mecca even after he saw the change in his brother. He is just as guilty as Mecca for bringing death to a sibling.Over all, I thoroughly enjoyed the finale. Way better than Miamor's own, you know I love to hate the chick. The booked had me going and could not put it down (finished in less than 24 hours). I knew the lovey dovey happy ending is not Ashley and Jaquavis style so I was sitting baffled for a minute, but ultimately I am not surprised at the ending.Couple of things though, what is going to happen with Leena and baby Monroe, how will Leena take Mecca's death, I would of love the demise of Roybn (hated her more than Miamor) what is going to happen between Murder and Carter and will Carter feel any remorse after finding out about Leena and Monroe?

It is a highly rated series, but......
It is a highly rated series, but......other than the Cartel 1, I am not sure if this passes my positive ranking for the 2 & 3. The cartel book starts great, but becomes "a story that everybody wants hear" and I was hugely disappointed with book 3 which confused me completely. It brought back the dead caracters to put some missing details or twists that were supposed to be in Books 1 & 2.

What Can I Say?
What can I say about the Cartel that hasn't already been said? All three books were well written, characters were fairly well drawn and the story line had a nice pace to hit. Clearly this story was thought out and planned.I did think the writers cheaped out with the second book. Really guys, it was all a dream? That's so 1980's "Dallas-Bobby I thought you were dead." Outside of that the story line in the 2nd book was really good.I enjoyed all 3 books and the Cartel 3 wrapped everything up pretty nicely. Not sure the Breeze as crack addicted prostitute was necessary. She was a peripheral character and should have stayed that way. If her story was to become more prominent, I would have liked to see her grow a backbone and become a junior version of Miamor!Overall, a good read!

Action packed
Cartel three kept me on the edge of my seat.I read it in a day. Breeze was still alive in Haiti dealing with daily abuse from Matee. This was graphic, along with her suffering in Mexico. It was difficult reading about her abuse, and drug use, but you really get a sense of the gutter that she had landed in. Mecca continues to be a hothead. I found myself sympathising with him towards the end when he found God. We are introduced to the Garza cartel, who Carter makes a connection with, while he is inside.A force to be reckoned with. I could not understand Illiana and Breeze both living in the same place with Zyir. It did not seem realistic. Young carter mourns for Miamor who was killed off, while he was in prison. When he finds out who she really was, it does not change the way he felt about her. Murder comes back on the scene in the hope of finishing the Cartel. Just when I thought the Cartel was eliminated, you are left with a twist to find out more in Cartel four.

Finally...
So after the twist of number 2 we Finally got to read the real sequel of The cartel! I Have never been disappointed with any of the cartel books so far & I don't think I Will.As with the previous 2 books, their is plenty of drama that surrounds the cartel and doesn't get boring for even a second.I think that If you were hooked on the previous 2 I think that you will enjoy all the cartel books, as I however not that the book doesn't have its faults. Some of the story lines are beyond crazy and I do feel that sometimes the book over kills things but as with all books they are fiction and serve as an entertainment purpose and had me hooked on it for the whole day until I finished it. So bring on the next!
