Nice collapsible ice block mold with valuable lid
A useful ice mold. My uses:-Emergency ice: a funny thing happened; true story. Pretty much the MINUTE a block of ice was created from one of these molds in my mini-freezer, I realized my refrigerator was breaking down, & had to be replaced. I was able to save my food in the refrigerator, that was minimally cold (& the upper freezer was working), by putting the food in a zip up insulated freezer bag, & this block of ice on top. What a blessing it turned out to be. -Sculpture: I actually obtained these molds for alternative purposes, than ice. I am learning a new art form with light weight mortar concrete, & intend to use these molds in my art design experiments.Good & bad features:I like that it is collapsible, for storage in a overstocked art studio The lid is a highly valuable addition; many of these molds are sold without a lid, which I find to be a problem Semi- flexible/ not fully rigid: I ordered several different sizes & colors of large ice block molds. Compared to another mold, which has thick, sturdy walls, this mold is thin walled, & more flexible/ flimsy, but necessary to construct it as collapsible I had to carry it across the room full to my mini freezer, & found it could not be done (even when putting it on a tray), with the mold anywhere near full of water, because it’s too flexible/ flimpsy & collapses when holding too much water. The only solution is to put it in the freezer, half full, & then add water to it while already in the freezer, which is easy enough. So there is a pay off to allow the collapsible feature, but the thinner wall can be worked around.

Sturdy
Sturdy mold for the size. The silicone is pretty thick and the lid fits perfectly on it, so it’s easy to fill and transfer to the freezer. I like that it collapses too, so it doesn’t take up space in the cabinets when not using it.

Perfect for large slow-melting blocks of ice to keep pets cool in summer (& for the ice chest)
This is a versatile, very large ice mold and I really appreciate that it comes with a lid. It is lighter in weight and it bit more floppy than I anticipated, but it still works very well. Since I will really only be using this during the warmer months of he year, the fact that it is collapsible and doesn't take up much space when it will be stored is a plus, too. I want to use the big blocks of ice from this mold to help our pets stay cool during the summer. I have a large chest freezer so I have enough room to always have several block ready. I find it easier to put this in the freezer above my fridge until mostly set and then take it out to the big freezer (it is a long way down to the bottom for someone as short as me). It does takes quite a while for this amount of water to freeze no matter which freezer I am using. Of course the deep freezer is more efficient but I still have to plan ahead to have enough ice on hand. This will be so handy for keeping a bunch of canned beverages chilled in the ice chest as I never seem to have enough room for a day's worth of them in the fridge. Even more so when there are visitors. If I add a block of ice in the morning, it takes quite a while before it starts melting and then works very well to keep everything cold for the afternoon and evening.I thought the price seemed a bit high, but I will definitely get a lot of use out of this, so I'm glad I found it.

Bigger Not Always Better
Similar to some other similar items I purchased, I bought these thinking having some larger ice block molds would be better than having to refill a bunch of smaller containers my wife was using to create ice blocks for our ice bath. The challenge we found is the water does cool down faster with smaller cubes (yes, we could smash these up). However, we also discovered that one of the benefits I saw in these items ended up being a bit of a disadvantage. Since the molds are made of silicone, they aren't as easily stackable in the freezer as perhaps our smaller, more rigid containers. So, we can actually create less ice in the same space as before.Overall, quality of materials and general functionality is good.

Comes With Lid
This holds over 9 pounds of ice but is a little expensive. It's well made; you can stack them because they come with a lid. This is great because they tend to take up a lot of space in the freezer. They're excellent quality and work great for quite a few things, like animals in the summer and ice baths. I love it. It's a good product. It's easy to get ice out, too.
