I gave up.
I wanted this to protect the steering wheel in my new car. I liked the fact that it was real leather and I thought it would look professional since it's real leather and will be threaded on not just something that slips over that looks like carpet. Also, the red threading matched some of my interior accents. I should have thought more about how it would be assembled.I ran into two difficulties. One was it wasn't going to look great at the three points where the steering wheel controls meet the actual wheel. I couldn't see any way to address this with the threading except to tie it off, but without being able to thread the whole thing it's going to have a bubble, a big section (three of them) that don't look very good.Even with that, I was willing to stick out to see how it would look, but I gave up when I realized it was going to take me hours. At the rate I was going, it was going to take about 4 hours. It's very difficult push the steel needle through the holes in the leather. It requires some kind of glove to prevent it from slipping through your fingers. Even though the holes are existing, the steel needle is very slippery, my fingers were sore after only making a few passes. In the end, I gave up because of the threading and because I thought that after all that work, it probably wasn't going to look right. This might be the right product for the right car and the right person, but it isn't for me. Does it work? It depends how particular you are about how your car looks and if you're willing to spend hours sewing.
