Insta360 X4 Standard Lens Guards

When I purchased my Insta 360 X4 (an upgrade from a previous model) the seller warned me “Just make sure you buy lens protectors!”. I didn’t bother with this kind of thing on my X2 and the device was fine throughout its useful lifetime. However, on this occasion, partly due to the seller’s message and partly due to the eye-watering cost of the device, I decided to buy these ‘standard’ lens protectors. My first impressions were not that great as they seem large and bulbous and add quite a lot width to the device overall. They also can’t be used in the water which is my primary use-case for the device on holiday with the family. However, whenever I have finished with the device in the swimming pool and cleaned it and wiped it dry I have added the lens protectors on. This is quick and quite a simple process of twisting to lock them in place. I then store the device in the original soft neoprene zip cover. I’m writing this review on holiday as, just an hour ago, I went to get something from our hotel room safe, and accidentally knocked the camera (in its cover, with the protectors on) out of the safe. It fell about 5 feet onto a marble floor. When I picked it up I could tell there was something not right. I unzipped the cover and found that one of the lens protectors had shouldered the fall and had cracked and broken. I tested the device and all is fine. The real lens is 100% clear and fine also. So, this twenty pound investment, just saved me five hundred pounds! Phew! My advice? Don’t procrastinate, get these now and replace them when they save your device from a fall or scratch. It’s money well spent.

These lens guards are as tough as butter on a sunny day, create lots of lens flare and generally spoil any footage taken with any lighting cast towards the lens.

I didn't expect these to be so consumable. Yes its better than cracking the glass of the camera but these are thin plastic not even glass. Slightest knock cracks them and they also steam up easily so arent water proof at all. Far too expensive for that they are. For this price and quality they should be 3 or 4 pairs.

Terrible. These scratch too easily which then renders them useless.

These are great but don’t work in water …. As they fill up with water!! And then most over if in a warm country as I’ve found out!

Fit just like the OEM lens guards. I am pleased with the quality. I would purchase again.
