Annabelle: Creation

So incredibly creepy
This movie was a good one, and scary in that the doll was so freaking creepy. In almost every scene, I dreaded seeing her face. This is chronologically 2nd in The Conjuring series. Reccomend.

Ultimately Enjoyable
A nun and a bunch of orphan girls move into a house with a dark history. One of them finds a creepy-ass doll known as Annabelle locked away in a room wallpapered with pages from the Bible. As one might expect, stuff soon goes south for everybody in the house. The strength of Annabelle: Creation is in the construction of its scares. It blessedly avoids the stale "all audio drops out and then a big-loud jumpscare," method. But, that's not to say it doesn't utilize silence and jumpscares. The most effective moment involves a picture that a character keeps moving in and out of the light. It's a very quiet scene that only seeks to unsettle, and it succeeds. It's also just reminder that the simplest things have the potential to have the biggest impact. The film falters when it gives us a good look at a demon, the big-bad of the movie, which it does in the final act. I really wish filmmakers could leave these things in the shadows and mostly unseen. The demon here is quite creepy when it stares from the dark with its glowing eyes. Not so much when it's hanging from the ceiling, looking like some goateed hipster who just climbed out of a soot-covered chimney. The movie gets stuck spinning its wheels near the end, almost as if it needs to drag out the story to two hours for contractual reasons. The girls end up running here and there with all story momentum dropping to a halt. The epilogue with one of the girls growing up also seems a bit unnecessary, aside from tying the film directly into the first movie. But, with all that said, even with all its flaws, it's an ultimately enjoyable experience.

All the reason why “life sized” Dolls are Creepy!
*This movie was perfectly written and directed...that I must give a formal (Recognition of Excellence) to all Producers and Writers involved in this production…Job well done guys!Warning: may not be suitable for small kids under 10 years of age, so parents be “warned.”The Premise: This movie explains the (who, what, where, why and when) Annabelle came into existence. The story is sad, scary and creepy. This movie is “damn” good and WILL scare the “HELL” out of you. It give movies like: “Drag me to Hell” and the original “Exorcist” two black eyes and a bloody noise…it’s really that good!My thoughts: I was caught off guard by the intensity of this movie. It gets into your subconscious and burns into the psyche of your mind. It’s so realistic and graphic that it will scare you to death. There is blood, gore and carnage. This movie is ALL the reason why I don’t like “life-sized” Dolls…very creepy indeed! Overall, excellent character development, and a great story that truly answers all questions and ties up all lose ends. Excellent acting by all actors, excellent movie props, and movie sets, make-up, period attire and accessories down to the finest detail.*Recommend purchase of Blu-ray or online rental streaming. Blu-ray is always the better quality. When you stream, the quality is slightly diminished and is compressed…facts! The Facts:1. Running Time: 1 hr. 49 min.2. Widescreen HD.3. Sound 5.1 DTS-HD (Excellent sound quality).4. State of the Art high quality CGI effects.5. Beautiful cinematography.6. A sad and scary story, kind of predictable, but easy to follow.7. No dry areas at ALL…keeps you concerned or worried.8. There is blood, gore and carnage.9. Excellent character development.10. Excellent Friday Night Horror, Halloween or Weekend Movie.11. Not suitable for viewing by small kids under 10.Thank you!
