WOW! Amazing...
If you have a fondness for this quirky, reclusive and endearing national treasure then that fondness will only be reinforced by reading this biography. There’s no dirt digging here and I suppose the book’s all the better for it; anything even remotely reputation damaging is quickly played down. It’s a meticulously researched book focussed almost exclusively on Bush’s artistic output and modus operandi. The influence and control the older brothers exerted at the start of her career is well documented as well as her pioneering work with new recording technology and use of the Fairlight. But it’s a weighty tome in every sense of the word written by what must be one of Bush’s greatest fans - bordering on sycophancy at times. Despite this, Thomson does not overlook or hold back on what he regards as her artistic failings.Perhaps overlong and gushing in places it remains a respectful and heart-warming record of Bush’s best years.

A must for every fan of Kate Bush.
A totally absorbing and well written biog. Revised and updated to cover her last live concerts, everything you should ever want to know. Evenly handed and honestly expressed opinions, in depth analysis and insights abound. A book I am sure to refer back to and enjoy for many years. The author sets a high bar for what pop and rock journalism should be. The best music book since Mark Lewinsohn's series on The Beatles.

Excellent updating in this 3rd edition
This is the 3rd edition I've bought of this book. Mr Thomson's detail and evaluation of everything Kate does meant that I just had to read what he thought about 'Before the Dawn'. This new chapter is excellent, as expected, and he captures the same feeling of 'being there' that I felt. There's also some thoughtful detached comment about the whole performance, which is not hagiography, even though the concert was like a religious experience! Importantly, this chapter is not simply tacked on - the whole book has been revised. For someone who hasn't read it yet, it's a great biography. For those with an earlier edition, it's worth purchasing as the most complete discussion of Kate's whole career to date.

Great read for any Kate Bush fan
Very fascinating read and gives a great insight to one of this country’s most underrated artists. For me this was a more important read as I come from the same town as Kate Bush. I therefore can familiarise well with the places mentioned in the book. I think the only slight downfall of the book is the fairly long chapters and certain use of words.

As time goes by the realization of just how significant ...
As time goes by the realization of just how significant Kate Bush's 70s / 80s works were / are, becomes ever more apparent. Genius. This book tells the whole story from school girl demos, to pub rock band, to stardom, and right to the present day Before the Dawn. Well researched, and with a lot of insight. A rarity in rock biographies today.

The best, most complete biography on Kate Bush you'll find out there.
Excellent! This is simply the best biography of it's type I've ever read, packed full of real information and detail. Just make sure it's this new, 2015 edition you buy, though, because it's the version which includes the 2014 Before The Dawn Show. It's written in a clear, easy-to-read, un-put-downable style. It's one of those books I didn't want to end - so I'll just have to read it, again. Enjoy!
