Brought My WF-1000XM4 Back to Life
If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re dealing with the known battery defect on the Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds. I bought a used pair on eBay as an upgrade from my Pixel Buds A, but the battery life was awful—barely 10–12 minutes, wouldn’t charge past 50–60%, and the earbuds got so hot the case would blink red. After some research, I bought this battery replacement kit and I’m extremely satisfied. The kit completely revived what were essentially unusable earbuds and restored the battery life to its original expectancy—they honestly feel brand new again. I’m fairly tech-savvy and found the repair straightforward, though having an extra tool like a small clamp helped when opening the earbuds, and there are plenty of YouTube guides if needed. Overall, this kit absolutely saved my purchase and is well worth the money if you’re experiencing the same issue.

Perfect kit for replacing your Sony Earbud batteries.
This kit had everything I needed to change out the batteries in my Sony earbuds. It ships with the exact same brand of battery used in the original configuration. The installation is a little tricky, but there are plenty of online how-to videos to show you how to get it done. The new batteries REALLY do a good job of holding a charge! BEWARE... most how-to videos say that you have to heat up the outside casing of the earbud to loosen the glue that holds the 2 halves together. I used a heat gun. Don't make the same mistake I did! Wear gloves, hold the earbud a good 8 to 10 inches from the heat gun outlet as it produces a lot of heat. I also recommend that you remove the ear tips. DO NOT use plyers to hold the earbud by the stem where the ear tips attach. It is very thin plastic and with the heat, they will begin to melt very quickly. I found this out the hard way. Fortunately I was able to coax the stem back into shape and it did not damage the function. In the end, this is a fine kit to replace Sony batteries (on compatible models) when used correctly!

Good
There is a lot of unnecessary stuff in the bag, especially if you already own some tweezers and prying tools, but the batteries are great. My earbuds are back to charging all the way and lasting as long as when they were new!

Great tool kit. Glue included
All you need to get this job done. Blue prying tools( not the triangles) the plastics are on the soft side so be aware to not pry to hard. Patience is key for this fix. This tool set is great. The glue is perfect d/t its fine tip. Will update battery quality and value of money.

A complete kit for battery replacement of Sony XM4 earbuds.
Overall it was a very complete kit with picks, pry tools, 3 small screw drivers, a razor blade and some finger sleeves. If you already have tools, these tools will seem very flimsy and probably won't last. I ended up not using any of the tools but the small tube of glue has a needle point tip for precisely applying a small bead of glue around the whole seam of each ear bud without making a mess. You will have enough glue left for probably another 20 earbuds. Lastly there was come discoloration on one of the batteries but tested within spec with a multimeter. It was worth it for just the two batteries and the tube of glue. The only thing missing was a heat gun but you can't expect that at this price point. My earbuds have the same capacity as when they were new but only time will tell if they last. I will update if they fail prematurely.

From Engineer: Excellent kit, Easy Install
Used this battery and tool set to replace my Sony XM4 earbud batteries. Before the replacement, the batteries would only last about 1.5 hours max, using noise cancelling - we’ll see how long they last after the replacement. The replacement was fairly easy. I heated the earbuds to melt the factory glue by placing them inside a plastic baggie, and submerging that in a hot mug of water for about 10 minutes. Waiting long enough to let the glue loosen up was the hardest part. After that, used the razor blade to gently start prying apart the two halves - I could only get them open AFTER I went all the way around once. Seems as though the razor was also cutting through some of the glue, which helped immensely. After that, and because of the long heating process, it was super easy to peel the motherboards off the battery (attached with adhesive) and remove it. On my Sony XM4s, there was enough room in the wiring that I didn’t need to unclip any connectors. Placed in the new battery, and they worked! The glue that comes with the set has the perfect tip on it to place just the right amount of glue around the edge before resealing the 2 halves. Once done, I found I needed to rubber band the two halves together while the glue dried to more of the seamless look they started with. You can see in the pictures the seam after the glue has dried. Not perfect, but not super noticeable if you’re more than a foot away from them. If I had taken more time working my way around the entire earbud with the razor, I think the seam wouldn’t look this wide - so user error here. Very happy with this kit! excellent replacements
Almost everything I needed to replace the batteries in my bt headphones. I used some pliers to very carefully crack them open like a nut cracker to access everything. Watch some vids, plan it out, be meticulous and careful and they'll go back together like nothings changed. After a few months of use they work great and last like when I first bought them. I noticed after a while one of them wasn't together as tightly as the other so cleaned and put a better bead of glue and it was perfect again. Will buy again.

Replacing Sony earbud batteries is trickier than it looks.
The replacement of battery on the WF-1000XM4 is trickier than DIY videos indicate. I have years of experience working on electronics. I released the data cable tab and using the tweezers provided in kit wiggled it out gently. Unfortunately the data cable broke. I should have used my own tweezers to get better grip. So before you attempt battery replacement remember the tools provided are okay but if you have your own tools don’t be afraid to use them instead.
