I was researching a refrigerated we food automatic feeder last month. I was getting a new cat and this product was only out for a week or so. I didn't buy one as all I could find was the ice pack ones and this but this item had mixed reviews. Everyone said the product was good but the app was lacking so I held off. A week ago I got my cat and again found myself on amazon looking for a solution for when I am out of the house overnight. I have family that can stop in but I really wanted to make sure my cat got fresh wet food everyday even if they were stuck and this does that for up to 3 feedings. He gets we food once a day so this would cover us for 3 days. I use it along with the Petlibro Air feeder for dry food. There is a 30. minute preparation time to get it to temperature that is more appealing to eat. This product keeps the food fresh and when it is time to serve it is just chilled, not cold. My cat doesn't seem to mind and in fact, seems to prefer how this food is served to warm wet food. It has opened every time on schedule and the food was at the right temp. The app was updated 2 days before I purchased mine so I can only speak to the recent app release. It is easy to program but one thing I noticed is the feature to label a meal wasn't clear at first. For me, the compartment that I put to be served first was not as when it activated at feeding time it rotated the tray but the app didn't reflect that. After the first time and realizing it I can adjust how I label food in the app, I figured it out quickly. It matters because I'm trying to figure out what food my cat likes. Each compartment had a different flavor that looks similar. It's hard to tell just looking at what is left over in the tray which flavor it is. Keeping track of which compartment was fed first was easy to figure out after the first day.The recent update allows for a feeding time of up to 4 hours. This is nice because it took him a little while to figure out that it wasn't available all day and now he eats it all within 2 hours so I've adjusted how long it stays open. It also has a sensor to show you on the app how many times your cat went to the feeder and for how long. that gave me an idea of when he was eating the bulk of the food so I could adjust when to set it to close to train him to eat it earlier in the feeding schedule. Even if you leave it for 4 hours, I have felt the food and it is still cool so I feel ok about it being open that long. One thing the app doesn't have for me but is supposed to is a feed now option. It is supposed to let you open it at any time, even during the 30 min preparation prior to feeding time. It takes 30 min to adjust to feeding temp but it would be nice to open it at anytime. As it stands, I have to schedule a feed 30 min from that moment if I need to feed him off schedule, not a deal breaker but hopefully with the next update that will show up for me.I took away one star simply for the app quirks but as far as reliability and function this product delivers. Definitely worth the investment for the convenience of keeping my cat on schedule.Update:I've had this for one year now. The app no longer has issues and it works reliably even when the power goes out. Also, you can now open it anytime with the app update. Could not be happier with this product. Added back the one star for improvements.

It's okay, not without some very notable issues.
We got this to make sure our cat can get her wet food when we are away for a day or three. Overall it's good but it has a few quirks that we are working past.1. Connectivity issues - This only connects over 2.4 WiFi, something that many of us have moved away from quite some time ago in favor of 5ghz. We have mesh coverage in our home and I didn't even have 2.4 turned on. So keep that in mind when shopping for this item. Even after getting it on the network, and knowing we have exceptional coverage in our home, we still get frequent notifications from the app that the unit is offline. It causes more than a little anxiety when you're traveling and you can't get status updates and such from the thing that's supposed to be keeping your pet alive. I have faith that the battery backup will at least make sure that feedings happen on schedule even if it's offline, but I don't like not being able to monitor it, etc.2. Design issues - I'm sure a lot of thought went into the design of this to make it as compact and attractive as possible, as well as to hold a reasonable amount of food. The concern is with the size and depth of the opening. Cats like wider, shallower bowls. They don't like their whiskers getting bent as they eat. Our can has a relatively small face but she's still very hesitant to get her face down deep into the tray to eat, especially out of the sides. she often leaves a fair portion of food behind, which is not like her, and I believe it's because it's not comfortable for her to get to it.3. Safety concerns - As others have stated, the power supply gets hot. I figured "I'm sure it gets a little warm, as all wall warts do. People are probably exaggerating. Well I can tell you that they aren't. I used a laser thermometer to check the temps on the brick and it read as high as 135.5 degrees F! I think the power supply is underspec'd and borderline overloaded, and PetLibro needs to move to a larger one before something bad happens. Now it's not all bad. The unit is very quiet when it's running, and it keeps the food fresh without drying it out. They seem to put attention into the app, which I appreciate. Shortly after we got the feeder they pushed an update that added a lot of features that I had personally thought it needed, but didn't mention to them or anything. There is a "feed now" option, on top of the scheduled feeding. This is nice in the event that your schedule changes, and is very helpful in getting your pet used to the machine. Our cat was very intimidated by it and wouldn't eat, even if we programmed it to stay open for hours. Using the new function I was able to put treats and stuff in the machine and trigger it when I could be there with her. This got her used to associating the chime noise with food, and let her feel safe while eating out of the machine at first. I also appreciate that you can set the chime noise to repeat several times in case your pet was out of earshot or sleeping or something when it first went off. The app is pretty well thought out, and relatively easy to use. The documentation is decent as well. I like the safety and wellfare features, like how it won't close the door if it detects your pet is eating, and that it monitors and logs how much time they spent at the dish, so you can make sure they ate via the app. It's easy to clean and keep up as well. All in all we liked it enough to keep it, especially since there isn't any real alternative product on the market right now, but it doesn't instill us with the confidence that we were hoping for while we are away.

Not automatic and only works for specific cats
Tried this for one month and returned it.- Trays rotating out of order or into empty trays. I had to get a camera specifically to manually rotate the trays from the app to the one that has food. This defeats the purpose of the automatic feature.- Too tall for my cat. My cat has a squishy face so she has to dip her head really deep into the tray.- Tray opening is not wide enough to prevent whisker fatigue.- Bell chime is really quiet so my cat can’t hear it on the first ring. I had to manually ring the bell multiple times via the app for her to come and eat. Again, not making this device automatic.- Food stays too cold. It took me a month to train her to eat from this without supervision and in the end, she walks away from it because the food is too cold for her. I also believe this is why the tray is plastic instead of stainless steel. The stainless steel cooling panel underneath the tray accumulates ice so if the trays were also the same material, it would freeze the food. This feeder works for households with a cat that can tolerate cold food, can eat everything at once on schedule, doesn’t need medication, and is in relatively healthy condition. However, it's not very reliable and I wouldn't trust this device without keeping and eye on it.This is an innovative product but it just doesn’t work for me or my cat. We both don’t have the energy to stick around any longer to be guinea pigs. I’ll consider buying an upgraded version that has SMARTER capabilities with COOLING and HEATING functions from PETLIBRO in the future.
