This is a high-quality, all-suede roll-up game board that's well worth the higher price. The brilliant design, with stiff borders/edges that stay raised through magnetism, make this the perfect option for use on a picnic table, bus, boat or airplane because they prevent your dice from flying off the board onto the floor. I highly recommend this style instead of the lower-priced model with flat edges. Also, the board is the perfect size for either travel or home use - not too small and not too large. It's 14L x 11W, and the checkers are the size of a nickel, more substantial than the miniature-sized ones that are hard to pick. Checkers and dice are perfectly stored in a zipped compartment, and the board rolls up beautifully and is secured tight with two built-in suede straps.

My boyfriend has an iranian family and he grew up playing Tartenar with his grandfather every afternoon. He has always missed this when he's not at the family house, so I decided to gift this travel board to him and he LOVES it! He taught me how to play the iranian way and not with the modern rules (hence not using the extra numbered dice) and it has quickly become a game we take with us every time we go somewhere due to its convenient size but sturdy setup.Such a great gift for your loved ones! Completely recommended!

i loved the set up. it’s so cool to be able to roll out and play backgammon. - it takes some time getting used to it because it is small. AND the dye on the suede transfers ever so slightly. thank goodness we traveled with it in the box and it only left marks inside the box. but that is something you should keep in mind. i’m thinking of sewing a travel pouch for it to prevent any future mishaps

After hundreds and hundreds of Amazon purchases, this might be my first ever review. Why start now? Because customer service was terrific when I was missing a piece. My set came with a third white die instead of the doubling cube. I messaged the seller (Pitkin Stearns) and they quickly sent a replacement through FedEx. Very fast and very easy!!The board is terrific. Very well made. Seems like the kind of thing that will stay in our family through a few generations. It was a gift to my wife and it has revived our interest in backgammon. So that’s cool for sure!

This is a very nice set for travel. I was hesitant about how flat it would lay when unrolled. No issues at all. This should be a great travel game for many years.

Best backgammon board for traveling! So easy to store and it takes up little space. Just remember you need a solid level place to set it up since the space you play on is soft and needs support underneath it. Unfortunately, after only 13 months and really not much play time with it, the zipper broke. The zipper pull moves but will not close the zipper spines. We found this out just a few weeks ago while traveling in Costa Rica. Very disappointing as I love everything else about this board.

The board is well made. We use it when we travel. I had a hard time getting the dice to fit. My solution was to take out one of the discs and put the one dice in its place the side pouch and then put the one disc on top of the dice and was able to close the pouch without strain on the zipper.

I started really liking this product, but now the zipper already failed and is broken. I don’t hear anything from the company when trying to complain, and without the zipper, the game is pretty useless.
