I had been heating Sumatra Resin for quite a while and wasn't aware of the different types when I first ordered this (Siam) resin a year or so ago. Siam has a very different scent than Sumatra, with heavy notes of vanilla and sweetness, and the sap melts to a much creamier looking resin. Both types are excellent, just visually very different. This is a very good Siam Benzoin with heavy notes of vanilla and the amount that you get for the price is fantastic. I now mostly prefer this over Sumatra (unless blending with heated Palo Santo wood, which is an amazing mix). Will absolutely be purchasing more of this one.

Making Black Salve like my grandmother did and needed rosin. This required a good bit of grinding with my mortar and pestle, but worked great in the salve.

This isn’t pure Dragon’s Blood resin at all. This stuff looked like it was coated with a reddish powder to dye the stuff red which is not at all like any Dragons Blood I’ve ever tried, it does not fully melt like real Dragons Blood, and most importantly the only smell that emanates from it using a charcoal burner is a hint of burning plastic. I thought I was getting a good deal, and I supposed it was too good to be true. Never buying from this seller or brand again. It’s not what it says it is.

You get what you see. I did not do "my homework" before buying and ordered these blocks. No aroma whatsoever. just processed who knows what. It is definitely not pure, raw Dragon Blood resin. Since it has no aroma it has no functionality
