Interesting and....
I dont write many (or any) reviews for movies. Most times I just like, or dont and move on.This movie while yes it has flaws, is actually very good. It has great special effects, is visually stunning, immersive and believable in its world building. The story is good, it's just missing something that would've made it 'great'.This isn't your the jokey stupid "I Robot", nor the kill all humanity "terminator" and it doesn't come close to the excellence of "ExMachina". But, it does work in its own way.Creator tries to touch on the existential aspect of what constitutes humanity. It comes close but, fails to really hit on the significance.Regardless, I Liked it.The dynamic between Joshua and Alfie is excellent and one of the best parts of the film. (yes I cried)Could it use some work? Yeah. But, the concept and theme is there. It captures your interest from the very beginning, pulls you and makes you think. All while touching that emotional button (IE-interactions of loved one AIs and humans)It was a good movie and I would recommend giving it a view.

Illogical. Improbable. Infuriating.
I cannot recommend this film. The visuals/CGI are impressive, and the acting is wooden, but passable. The world building and plot are absolutely hideous.Illogical. Improbable. Infuriating. Additionally, the main point of view character is a lying, idiotic traitor to humanity. I absolutely made no positive emotional connection with him and was rooting for a hideous accident to befall him at every point in the movie. The premise is that at some point the big miracle occurred and AI became self-aware and self-defensive. There was a series of escalating actions by AI against the humans that culminated in the AI using a thermo-nuclear device on Los Angeles. This was a misstep by the AI over-mind.There has been a debate earlier between nations about what to do about the existential threat that AI posed, but the history of deception, terrorism, and ultimately the use of a hydrogen bomb convinced the entire world to turn against AI except for the corner of Southeast Asia where the AI had effectively already taken over the government. We join the story when an agent sent by the pro-human world is sent to infiltrate the AI run oligarchy finds himself in an active combat zone. He was supposed to find the creative genius (human) responsible for helping the AI to weaponize, and this same Creator (title of the film) has apparently created a super weapon that will destroy humanity. The trouble is that our agent has fallen in love with the Human Quisling and is actively defending her.We think that she was killed in the attack, but no such luck.Later the government, even though they know our love struck traitor is lying, decides to reactivate him and try to infiltrate the super-weapons manufacturing capability.Predictably, the traitor turns on humanity **AGAIN**, destroys humanities last hope of surviving the depredations of the AI, and roll the credits. The portrayal of AI as super capable, but just wanting to get along makes **NO** sense whatsoever. Early in the film they talk about several examples of the AI tricking people, capturing and killing them, escalating tensions and military action, and then, later in the film, they try to retcon some of it.No, no, no.Also, the AIs talk to one another using human like language. Why on earth would they do that? The AIs would be able to think 10,000 times as fast as the humans.By the by, if there were good AI that just wanted to get along then surely there would be AI that would want to wipe out the humans.Illogical. Improbable. Infuriating.

A Sci-Fi Masterpiece with Stunning Visuals and Engaging Storyline
"The Creator" is a remarkable film that successfully combines breathtaking visuals with a compelling and thought-provoking storyline. As a fan of science fiction, I was thoroughly impressed by every aspect of this movie.First and foremost, the visual effects are outstanding. The futuristic world created by the filmmakers is incredibly detailed and immersive. The CGI is seamless, and the set design is both innovative and visually striking. Every scene is a visual feast, making it a joy to watch. The storyline is equally impressive. It's a refreshing and original take on the sci-fi genre, with a plot that is both engaging and emotionally resonant. The pacing is perfect, keeping me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The film explores deep and meaningful themes without ever feeling preachy or heavy-handed.The characters are well-developed and portrayed by a talented cast who bring depth and authenticity to their roles. I found myself genuinely caring about their journeys and rooting for their success. The dialogue is natural and well-written, adding to the overall believability of the characters and their interactions. One of the highlights of "The Creator" is its ability to balance action-packed sequences with quieter, more introspective moments. This balance allows for a rich and varied viewing experience that keeps you engaged throughout. The film's emotional depth is enhanced by a hauntingly beautiful score that perfectly complements the on-screen action.Overall, "The Creator" is a must-watch for any sci-fi enthusiast. It excels in every aspect, from its stunning visuals and compelling storyline to its well-developed characters and emotional depth. This film is a true masterpiece and a testament to the power of great storytelling and visual artistry. Highly recommended!

Nirmata Quest
Months after 65, the year 2023 brought us another stand alone movie with an original concept, that isn't part of a series or franchise an adaptation or a sequel to anything. Would that this was the start of a trend.Gareth Edwards gets back in the director's chair for the first time since Rogue One. With a tale of artificial intelligence. It is one of those movies that has to fill in a lot of details quickly at start, but suffice to say nations in the west have banned AI ever since a nuclear attack on the USA. But AI is allowed in Asia. An area which has developed in interesting ways as a result. The US has an all powerful weapon but Asia has developed one to combat it. Joshua [John David Washington] is a military man with a past trauma, sent in to get it. The weapon is not what anyone expected.....This does take a few mins to settle down, because after the opening exposition you then get dropped into the middle of a scene where I took a minute or two to entirely figure out some things. But after that it gets really good. Most of this does seem to have been done with practical effects. There are some shots that might have been cgi because of their nature, but it didn't look apparent. It does offer some moral dilemmas to give you things to ponder. As an action movie it works, feeling very realistic. The Asian setting offers great landscapes. It did become a narrative where I really wanted to know what was going to happen next, and it held me as a result.I also rather liked Alison Janney as a military commander. In a role that feels like it could have been written for Frances McDormand, she really makes it her own.The plot does come together pretty well beyond the halfway point. It does then leave you thinking how is this going to end? It kept me on tenterhooks for that. When it does then head into the final straight, it does end up feeling slightly stretched. But that's only a minor complaint. It's an ending that works, and does hit home well.Good solid science fiction of the kind I like to see. Well worth a look. The dvd goes straight into the main menu with no trailers or ads.The language and subtitle options are:Languages: English, Castilian Spanish, English audio described.Subtitles: English, Castilian Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish. There are no extras at all.

This has the makings of an Epic Film, but why do I hesitate to say it is?
The Creator is an adventure film that draws the viewer to a potential future dominated by AI. The producer Edwards and his team have developed a story line of Chapters that improve in their content as the Chapters move along. Regrettably, the early Chapters for me are an amateurish reflection of what computers and robotics, and their merging towards the concepts of what Artificial Intelligence (AI) may have looked like in the early 1950's, even 60's. The film footage used is either cut from old black and white movies or are remakes of things imagined at the time - in any event this passage of the film is amateurish in the extreme and weakens the impact of the Epic that follows. There are some later indulgences that add little to the story - not least of which are the kick-boxing routines performed by robots.I could be critical of the dominance of "War scenes", of battles, and of destruction, but I can live with those elements since they add to the spectacular of the whole film. I congratulate the producers and their combining human film footage with arttistic works, with the artistry incorporated in the choice locations in which the movie was shot, and on their ability to turn people into AI machines. Many of the AI characters became quite real, and highly believable..By the time the film ended I was a complete convert to what the producers were trying to achieve - hence I use the term EPIC. I just regret to say that the beginning robotics could be greatly improved along similar lines and while drawing on some old footage should be modernised - even today's robots are not that sophisticated, but they have come a long way.
