Absolutely The Greatest Gift for a motor Head Ever!
Ok, So these tell you what size thread you need... Big deal, Right?Well? It actually is a HUGE deal if you work on cars, or machinery.I've bought several of these now, as once I got my hands on them and actually used them, I would no longer be able to live without.I'm an American, but I love the metric system. When I fabricate something, I use metric fasteners. When I repair things however, there is often a mix of both metric and imperial, and it gets very hard to keep track of what cars use what sized bolt for which part, etc...I'm now in the habit of leaving this on the cart at the ready, and I've actually been super impressed with how they perform...Got a weird bolt you can't quite place? 20 seconds, and You'll have it figured out. These are threaded internally ever so slightly oversized. Not enough so that the wrong thread will fit, but enough so that you can just twist it in with your fingers. The externally threaded side is the same. It fits perfectly into the hole, even if the hole is slightly damaged. It's just a little treat that saves time, and for what they cost? Get two!The case is perfect! The foam holds the checkers so they can't fall out even if you drop it, but the soft foam allows you to pull a checker out easily...I like having them organized in the case, but they all have a small hole in them, which would allow you to put them on little loop of wire rope, which would probably be pretty convenient as long as you don't work on engines.I prefer to keep them loose.I use these almost every day now. My kids use them, My wife uses them...You don't have to guess anymore! These are the Bee's Knees!

GREAT SET FOR CHECKING WHAT THEAD YOU'RE WORKING WITH
Let's first talk about what this product is. They do make thread gauges. There are threaded plug gauges which typically have a go gauge on one end and no-go gauge on the other. These are used by machinist and inspectors to check tapped holes to ensure they are cut properly. There are also ring gauges that are used to check external threads. This product is NOT that type of gauge. Rather, this product is simply a tool to be used to find out what the thread of a particular screw or hole is.I like that each piece has a male end and a female end. This makes it easy to use. We mostly use inch-size threads. It's too bad it does not go down to 4-40 and 2-56 as we use those sizes a lot. All of the other sizes are common and they offer both the fine and coarse thread pitches that are commonly used up to 1/2 inch. The metric threads range from M4 to M12 which is roughly the same sizes as the inch sizes.I like that each piece is anodized - blue for inch and red for metric. And each piece has the size etched on the side in white and is easy to read.A good machinist can often look at a screw or a hole and know what the thread size is. For the rest of us, this is a great set to make sure you've got the right hardware - especially since some metric screws are almost the same size as an inch size and vice versa. This set will help you quickly identify the exact thread you're working with.Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and it will be put to good use in our shop.

Bolting Brilliance: Masterful Measurement with the Nut and Bolt Thread Checker
This Hotrose nut and bolt measuring kit arrived in a custom-sized box. The kit itself contains two custom foam pads to protect the measuring units and keep them in place. It also features a nice easy-to-read chart indicating the location of various sizes. The items themselves are color coded, with blue units for the US measuring system and red units for the Metric system. This set offers 14 US and 12 metric sizes to ensure versatility for various projects. This may be one of those things you don't know you need until you do. For me, I have an electric guitar that lost a special nut that hold a switch in place (the pickup switch on a telecaster). I attempted measuring the bolt with digital calipers with no success. If you're curious, I needed a M12 nut, which just arrived (a special thinner ridged round nut). I'm glad to have this addition to my workshop. It'll save a lot of headache and time in the future. Wish I would've gotten one sooner. As an aside, I can now organize all of my loose nuts and bolts (and actually use them). All in all, I'm happy with this measurement set. It combines practicality, durability and convenience, making it an indispensable tool for professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike. Should my experience with it change in the future, the review will be updated.

Aluminum gauges fit correctly and are well machined/finished.
This kit of nut/bolt thread checkers is more or less as described in the product description. The pictures in the description say these thread checkers are high speed steel - they are not. They are aluminum, as defined in the written description information. They are all nicely finished with either blue (inch) or red (metric) anodized surfaces inside and out. I saw no finish or machining defects in any of the gauges. The anodizing will help provide a bit more wear-resistant surface on the thread-forms, however, it will not be equivalent to steel gauges for long term wear, or tight fitting threads being checked. The thread ID's on the gauges are all well defined and easy to read. The ID's are lightly etched into the gauge body, so even if the white fill paint wears off the size ID will remain (I scraped one gauge ID off just to check). I had need for this set of gauges within an hour or receiving it from Amazon. The correct gauges threaded easily onto the correct threads. Gauges on either side did not thread on at all, as one would expect. This is a light-weight set weighing only 25-1/2 ounces, inclusive of the case, gauges and internal padding. Almost all the gauges stay pretty firmly in their respective foam pockets in the case. Some (five or six) don't fit as snuggly and do fall out if the case is inverted while open. The case is light-weight and all plastic, including the hinge "pins", but it feels stout enough to hold up. For occasional use, this set of gauges, for me, is perfect. All gauges I checked were correct and well fitting.
