The Lord of the Rings Collector’s Edition Box Set: Includes The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King

There are a number of editions of this book available and I am not reviewing the story itself which is a classic of literature. My review is of the physical book edition itself. I love a well bound, clearly printed book. Such a book is easy to hold in one's hands and to read. This is such a book. It is a physical pleasure to hold and to read. I call it a book, it is of course 3 volumns. If one wishes to read this story, then this is the edition I recommend.

Came in perfect condition, I did check to make sure that there was not a printing error that others had happen. The design is simple and clean which is nice. I love the map that came with the books too.

Gave this as a gift to a LOTR lover. It was a big hit! The bonus map was a nice touch.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my dad and he just started reading it and realized the first book is messed up. In The Fellowship of the Ring volume, it starts all over again from the beginning after page 208. It is missing the whole second half of the book. I went to Amazon so I could see about exchanging the set, but apparently it is now too late to return or exchange it. I paid a good bit of money for this set and now am stuck with it. Of course I want to replace it but that is money lost and now I have to go buy him a new set.

The movies were amazing concluding with Return of the King winning the Oscar for Best Picture. I wanted to know how the books would compare since I saw the movies before reading the books. It has been interesting to learn new details which were not included in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. There are some poems and other writings not in the movies which are different from typical books. I enjoyed learning new details and now understand more about the background of the characters which will make the movies more interesting the next time I watch them.
