Easy to set up
Wanted a new laptop with bigger screen and back-lit keyboard . Previous laptop galaxy book go .This outshines in every way I'm visually impaired so need accessibility egg Narrator when I first switched it on spoken prompt told me to install narrator if needed and how to do this . The display is great I use it mainly for entertainment. Streaming tv catch up and YouTube. . It's a great laptop for this . My only slight niggle is the power button could be made to stand out more and it's a shame the hinges are plastic .The sound is great and battery life is good . Not suitable for being carried about too much as it's almost 2 kilo and power cable make it heavy .However it is well built .

Superb.
After researching the market and doing my homework, I decided on a Dell, It had what I needed, plus it came down in price in the black Friday sales which made it a no brainer, its well-made back-lit keyboard \SD card slot, instant start up, and silent running,, and all the safety features you need, a fast Ryzen 7 processor and AMD Redeon graphics,1 TB of SSD. and more than enough RAM to get the job done. I used it for Video/photo editing, and it breezes through any task. it feels and looks a premium product . Buy with confidence.

I think I'm in love
I can now play Diablo IV in bed! I can die happy. While my main reason for buying this device was to play games, it also serves as an excellent general-use laptop. I had an old i7 with an outdated NVIDIA graphics card that barely supported Diablo IV. Unfortunately, that desktop is on its last legs and mainly functions as a file server for my family, who all use laptops. This new laptop is a fantastic budget-friendly gaming choice and meets my needs for more straightforward tasks like running Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Additionally, I connected my recently purchased external Blu-Ray reader/writer via the USB-C port and successfully backed up my data. I've also used the drive to watch movies, and I must say, the screen is not just great for gaming; movies look and sound fantastic on this device! The McAfee security software included is easy to remove. Thank heavens! I prefer to stick with Microsoft Defender, as it's much less intrusive and has never let me down. I always keep my NordVPN on, and with the built-in Microsoft Defender, I feel secure. There is no need for bloatware. The included MyDell software is an unintrusive way to keep your laptop's drivers up to date. It also provides links to customise your audio, colour, or power settings. It is an improvement from my experience with Dell over twenty years ago. They are so user-friendly now!

Good Laptop
Bought to replace an ageing Dell 17.3 inch and although a slightly smaller screen at 16 inches there is little difference due to the thin bezel on this model. Set up was fine ,the headphione socket would not work but after uninstalling via device manager and re- starting it reinstalled the correct drivers automatically and all works fine. This is a quick and responsive laptop and seems well built, it will handle games that are not too demanding and does not run too hot. Windows 11 is installed and at first use seems too bloated with items that are not always easy to find compared to windows 10 but after some tweaking it works ok. All in all a good purchase if you want an every day laptop that will handle most tasks with ease.

Appallingly bad.
Appallingly bad. The colours are extremely 'muddy' despite tweaking all the settings, there is no vibrancy at all. It also drops the wifi signal constantly for no reason. Just so disappointing for a big name.

Good specs, mediocre screen
If you don't want to read the rest of this review, the basic summary is that this ‘exclusive to Amazon’ Dell 16-5645 has great specs, will be okay for everyday tasks: Web browsing, watching YouTube, a bit of gaming, etc, but is totally unsuitable for photo editing and at £699 seems very much over priced. I bought it to replace a 5 year Lenovo S540 Ideapad. I do a lot of photography and I wanted something with a dedicated graphics card to handle the editing software I have (Lightroom Classic) when I'm away from my desktop. On paper, the Dell 16-5645 is perfect: plenty of ram, radeon graphics card, fast speeds, etc. It also looks really good and feels very well made. I thought this was it until I looked closer at the colours, or to be honest, the lack of them. Everything looks washed out: reds lean towards pink, greens look yellow, pure white has a greyish, creamy look and sky blue isn’t there at all. There's just no depth to the colours I spent a few hours trying to calibrate the colours and even downloaded some more colour profiles but nothing made a difference. Amazon doesn't state the screen brightness (measured in nits), or the sRGB range for colours (dynamic range) in the description and now I know why because I definitely wouldn't have bought it if they had. I can't say this is misleading advertising but this data is vital for anyone who needed it for photo or video work. It's omission should have set off warning bells but other reviews said it had a great screen. For a good, clean, bright screen with good colours, it should have atbthe very least an IPS screen, a minimum of 300nits of brightness and 100% sRGB (or 72% NTSC). FHD+ generally refers to screen resolution, not dynamic range. I checked with Dell and they make three versions of the 16-5645, two with displays of 300 nits and 100% sRGB, and this one with just 250 nits and 45% NTSC (see attached photo). A screen of this quality is what I'd expect on a budget laptop in the £250 range. It seems ridiculous to build a laptop with great specs and gaming capabilities, but then put a poor screen on it; it's like putting a Ferrari engine in an old van. Obviously, not everyone will look at colours with such a critical eye and I'm sure most people probably wouldn't even notice. Nor would I say it's an awful screen because it isn't; it's just dull compared to many others in the same price range. If you do want it, my advice would be to look out for big reductions, such as Black Friday deals.
