Beadnova Jewelry Beading Wire for Making Supply for Jewelry Making (5pcs,26gauge)

I wanted to try wire wrapping jewelry so I bought this set. A great value at just under $7 and the cutting pliers do the job. I included pictures of my very first, self-taught wire wrapping project with the dime for size reference. If you're new to wire wrapping, keep in mind: the lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire and it's easier to learn on 16-24 gauge (so my research says). This was 26 gauge, and while it's very easy to wrap, it's not especially forgiving if the wrap slips and you need to straighten it out and re-wrap. Another note: the individual spools aren't marked with the wire gauge number, so I recommend checking the box next to the correct gauge so you have the right info for re-ordering. The label is right there on the spools, no idea why the manufacturer didn't check the appropriate box. Other than that, very pleased with this order.

beware this wire is extremely thin and not forgiving when it comes to mistakes. it’s my first time wire wrapping and I can’t make many cool designs because it’s so thin

The wire was good for crafting but was different from other "copper" wires in that it was attracted to my hematite ring, which is magnetic. So I'm assuming there is some iron in here too. Not sure what else might be in there since the product description only mentions copper. *shrug*

Definitely a good buy. I love all the different colors, and they look great with my gemstones! The wires will get crazy once you open it, but I expect that's kind of a given. they came very quickly, but luckily I already had some stones to practice on. Overall I love this product, and it's a great value for the price!

So of course, being 26 gauge this isn't sturdy at all. If you're using this for jewelry, I highly recommend using this for small details and getting something that's 20 gauge instead. There isn't much wire in here unfortunately and it's difficult to keep together. And it has this odd smell whenever you touch it, unfortunately. But it does make nice small details and I haven't noticed any flaking or fading so far.

I bought the 5 reels of colored 26 ga. wire and feel like I got the wire cutters for free which is a huge bonus! This was a great combo for making my "bead" spiders. Thrilled with this set.
