Rock 'n' Roll Zombies and High-Octane Action
Wild Zero is a Japanese cult classic that's been described as a mash-up of horror, comedy, and rock 'n' roll. As a fan of Japanese cinema and the weird and wonderful, I was excited to check out this DVD release. The film follows a young wannabe rockstar named Ace, who becomes embroiled in a zombie apocalypse while on tour with his band, the Guitar Wolf. Along with his friends and the Guitar Wolf, Ace must fight off hordes of the undead and save humanity while still trying to make it to their next gig.One of the first things that struck me about Wild Zero was its high-energy and over-the-top action sequences. From explosive car chases to guitar battles with zombies, the film is a non-stop adrenaline rush that's sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. But despite its insane action and horror elements, Wild Zero also has a lot of heart. The film is a love letter to rock 'n' roll, and the relationships between the characters feel genuine and heartfelt. And while the acting can be a bit cheesy at times, it only adds to the film's overall charm. The DVD release itself is of good quality, with a clear picture and decent sound. The special features include a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film and interviews with the cast and crew, providing some interesting insights into the creative process.Overall, if you're a fan of Japanese cult cinema or just looking for a wild and crazy ride, then Wild Zero on DVD is definitely worth checking out. Its rock 'n' roll zombies and high-octane action are sure to satisfy your thirst for the weird and wonderful. So grab some popcorn, turn up the volume, and get ready for a wild ride with Wild Zero.

Aliens! Zombies! Gore! Guitar Wolf! Rock and Roll! Trans representation!
After years of seeking this gem we finally have it! Listen, the pacing may be uneven, but it is deliberate. Fantastically framed scenes. Amazingly dressed and absurd characters experiencing their humanity while surviving in a wild space zombie romantic action comedy from 1999. True love is like rock n roll- it knows no boundaries of gender or nationality !Do be aware that there will be some antiquated transphobic tropes that the protagonist wrestles with as part of character growth. If you can stick it out, you just may find the outcome to the lovestory, the ridiculous ending, the intense camp, the strong fauxhawk bodysuit energy, the random gouts of flames and sparks from every conceivable source, and mix of fantastic practical effects and borderline terrible digital effects are a stew worth serving.

Fantastic!
All zombie films are, of course, fantasies in that they're purely fictional. But this film conjures up a sense of "fantasy" deeper than merely a depiction of fictitious characters and events. It evokes a sense of wonderment and magic - almost like some mythological tale of ancient gods - made manifest primarily through the persona of Guitar Wolf, the film's star and the catalyst through which an almost supernatural salvation occurs. True, Ace is technically the main character of the film; but he exists primarily as a kind of high priest who's been given the ability to summon the protection of his Rock 'n Roll idol, Guitar Wolf. And, when summoned to save Ace and his "girlfriend" Tobio from the zombies, Guitar Wolf not only saves his blood brother, who had earlier saved Guitar Wolf from his unscrupulous agent - one of the best conceived villains ever; but, almost as an afterthought, saves the world itself from an imminent alien invasion. These aliens, whose spaceships have engorged the night skies everywhere, were somehow responsible for the zombies in the first place. The message of the film - loud and clear - is that "Rock 'n Roll is not dead!" - at least not as long as Guitar Wolf lives. Had Ace not believed this with his entire being, the story would have died stillborn in the very first reel; but Rock 'n Roll saves the day both for the film's main characters and its viewers. Any way you look at it, this is one fantastic movie.

Wild Zero -- an instant Cult Classic!
Not only am I a fan of the entire horror genre, I am especially fond of Asian horror films. At this point, with upwards of two-hundred zombie films in my extensive collection, I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on the subject. And that is why I would like to share a few words on the film "Wild Zero," which in all seriousness is hands down one of the best Asian zombie films, EVER! I mean, if you're an Asian zombie film enthusiast and have seen the likes of, say, "Sars Wars: Bangkok Zombie Crisis," "Tokyo Zombie," "Junk," "Zombie Hunter Rika," Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad," "Zombie Self Defense Force," "Stacy," or "Versus," then you know that they make a damn fine zombie flick. In the case of "Wild Zero," however, the not only pushed the envelope, they made a brilliant rock'n'roll zombie film that is destined to become a Cult Classic. After all, when you have an alien invasion, hordes of flesh-hungry zombies, strange and colorful characters, a transvestite as the love interest of the protagonist, weird but effective humor, and the Japanese punk and maximum rock'n'roll legends Guitar Wolf both acting and rockin' the house, you have a movie meant expressly for the margins of the underground film society, as well as a film that has achieved instant greatness! Take it from me, this is one that you'll watch again and again. I know I have.

A must see
This is one of those movies someone said to me, “you have to see this movie. It is ridiculous.” It legitimately is so bad that it’s good. I had to own it so I can share it with others. Japanese, rock and roll musicians who kill zombies and blow things up with their guitars. It has everything!

Amazing. Watched on a projector at a party. Everyone loved it and was cry-laughing by the end. Historic pro-trans rights movie. ROCK AND ROLL!

Weirdly adorable
While it's basically a Rock and Roll version of Plan 9 from Outer Space, it's got a zombie love story subplot and (minor spoiler) one of the finest pleas for transgender acceptance ever seen on film. Yes, it's a promo for a band, but they're making music that's a cross between Punk, Rockabilly and a 747 taking off. There's a drinking game on the DVD where you take a sip every time someone combs their hair or fire comes out of a vehicle. You will get very drunk. And there's that ending...

Rock and roll knows no boundaries!
When I came across this originally I didn't know what to expect, and the very dark opening sort of made me pause. But this is a very funny film and I hope Guitar Wolf is a Japanese national treasure. Awesome punk rock-a-billy music, the plot goes up to 11 and by the end of the film we come to understand that even zombies can fall in love.Remember! Rock and roll knows no boundaries!

Cool ingredients, but ...
If you have read all the 5-star reviews on this site, like I did, then you will know what a weird mix this movie is. I immediately fell for all the ingredients this movie had to offer. In fact, I fell for it so much that I found the movie a bit disappointing when I actually watched it.I can't really put my finger on it, but definitely the pace of the movie was lower than expected. I had somehow expected more action. For instance when Guitar Wolf leaves on his motor, I would have expected bigger flames, dramatic acceleration speed, riding only on his back wheel, or whatever to make it more over the top. Also the summoning of the band is much later than I would have expected, the zombies were more bland, the confrontations between band and zombies were not as spectacular.Anyhow, I think it is a fun movie, and if I had seen the movie without any pre-knowledge and/or assumptions, I might have been in for a ride. But now, because of all the 5-star ratings, I expected more of this movie. To conclude, I do recommend this movie, but take care not to become over-enthusiastic by reading all the reports.
