The DVD extras follow the adage that if one has lemons, make lemonade. This "special" edition has no commentary track, and no new input from stars Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Andy Garcia or writer David Mamet. Yet DVD director Laurent Bouzereau has an ace up his sleeve that makes the four new featurettes (about 50 minutes of content) worth listening to: candid talk. The usual, stiff promotional take is jettisoned as producer Art Linson and director Brian De Palma honestly talk about the film's origins, the tricks of shooting, and the casting of Robert De Niro. These refreshing comments (plus insight from the cinematographer Stephen H. Burum and actor Charles Martin Smith), and better-than-average vintage interviews makes for valuable watching--even if the footage is intercut too often with film clips. To top it all off, there's a new Dolby Digital 5.1 EX soundtrack. --Doug Thomas This theatrical feature is based on the popular TV series about the campaign of U.S. Prohibition Bureau agent Eliot Ness to smash th e beer and booze empire of Al Capone in 1920s Chicago. Sean Connery won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Multi oscar winning blockbuster
This was my parents' favourite movie - its a decent film that we all as a family could sit down and watch together. No explicit scene & bad language was minimal. Since it first came out, in 1987 i must have watched it 50 - 60 times.

Ein Klassiker
schlechthin. Was Brian de Palma hier auf die Leinwand gezaubert hat, ist phänomenal, zeitlos, Shaun Connery in einer seiner besten Rolle, ein junger, relativ unbekanner Kevin Costner als Eliott Ness, Andy Garcia ..., einfach toll, deren Schauspiel anzusehen. Das ist die französische Blu Ray MIT deutschem Ton und glücklicherweise OHNE dem unansehnlichen FSK Logo, was nur das Cover verschandelt. Viele werden den Film sowieso kennen, darum erspare ich mir den Inhalt zu posten, was eh viele hier machen, nur daß sie ja viel herschreiben, aber in Wirklichkeit niemanden interessiert (ist meine Meinung). Die französische Blu Ray ist identisch mit der deutschen, ich bevorzuge natürlich die französische allein wegen dem Cover ohne FSK Logo, weil nicht einmal ein Wendecover der deutschen Blu Ray vorhanden ist. Auf jeden Fall Kaufenpfehlung der französischen Blu Ray.

I watched this when it came out decades ago and loved it then. I figured it was time to show it to my son, and he thoroughly enjoyed it too. Classic movie, the additional features were disappointing but then we just wanted to watch the movie...
