DO NOT USE AS TOPPER!! Must MIX in to avoid Mold!
It's no secret that there are natural molds in this product, which is why this product is so effective. YES, it killed the fungus gnats, almost immediately. My mistake, however, was using it as a top soil / top dresser. It looks pretty! But, after the first watering, the product turns solid, cakes together, and mold spawns. My understanding is that this mold is not harmful, but it is very unsightly, forming large white barriers around the plant. So, DO NOT USE AS TOP SOIL. Mix in with regular potting soil.THE SMELL. If you do NOT mix it in with regular soil, the smell will overwhelm your house and send guests running out the door. I was able to remove the most moldy and exposed portions by breaking up the remaining neem, and mixing it in with soil. We're still gnat free, and the smell has gone away.BUYER BEWARE... know what you're purchasing.

Great product and excellent seller.
Using neem meal as a plant immune-system booster with visible results on our organic farm in the disease- and pest-prone Deep South usa. This seller is great, with excellent price and quick shipping. Will definitely purchase again. We have been using the neem meal mostly by soaking it in water for up to 48 hours, then applying at the roots. The liquid can also be strained and sprayed, but be aware that neem can kill bees, so if your plants are in flower, only spray neem at dusk because it needs 3 hours before bees are safe. We have also used neem oil as a spray, but I'm liking the neem meal a lot for its systemic effects on plants. We have now planted our fall greens by incorporating a light sprinkling of the neem meal into the seed trench or over the whole bed for broadcast seed. There are very few sources of information for growing organically in the deep south, so we've been experimenting a lot. Here's what happened this summer: Our first planting, I only learned about neem meal after everything was already half grown and the tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash all had spotted, wilting leaves that started at the base and moved upwards. The neem meal slowed this down but did not stop it. Our second planting, we used the neem meal fermented liquid from the beginning, starting at seed planting, every few days, and the cucumbers and tomatoes have recovered from their early signs of the same disease symptoms and are growing strong and beautiful. So what I learned is that using the neem from the beginning of planting made the huge difference. We then put the neem meal into the soil when we recently planted the fall greens. Experimentation shows enormous promise-- I just wish we could grow the neem ourselves but that requires zone 10.

Helped with Fungus Knats!
This product did seem to make a difference in my fungus knat population last fall. It's 99.9% gone! It's now winter and they're still gone. I still see one or two occasionally. I use with a few sticky traps around the house. I mixed the Neem into my soil near the top, and then watered. I did this with all 60 plus plants, one time. Worth the purchase! I didn't have a bad infestation but I do get them in the summer when the humidity goes up in Vermont. I will use again in spring, and probably monthly after that as an added preventative.

Used it in my fight against fruit flies, and I think it worked? Question mark?
I worm farm in an apartment in the middle of the city. I bought some worms from a local guy, and as a special bonus - they came with fruit flies! Yippee! So they infested all of my bins, because come to find out ideal conditions for worms = ideal conditions for fruit flies, and before I knew it my apartment was overrun with them. I tried everything. I dried the bins. Starved my worms. Used BTI religiously. Covered the bins. Nothing seemed to work well enough to get their numbers under control. I saw a video where one gal had successfully vanquished a whole onslaught of beetles from her bin with neem cake powder, and thought I'd give it a go... Couldn't possibly make my situation any worse, right? Applied a couple of generous handfuls to my bins and worked it in. Smells a bit like rotten onions and trash... Which is fun, but whatever I was desperate. Then magically... The fruit flies vanished within about a week. Now it's entirely possible that any one of my other eradication methods was actually responsible for this, but it seems entirely too coincidental that they only disappeared when I applied the neem cake. So I am convinced this product was the one that did them in. They have not popped up again since, so I will continue to use this in all of my bins regularly... Even if it smells like butt. 10/10

Good soil improvement
I bought this product after some research. It’s difficult to assess efficacy unless I do a side by side comparison over a long period of time. I’m just an amateur home gardener, so that is not going to happen.
