Good textbook for sailing

Great book for someone like me; who is new to boating and is surprised and sometimes worried by how the change in weather can affect the sea. I highly recommend this book for anyone who ventures out onto the water and to anyone who is curious to why the weather does what it does. Good value for money.

Well illustrated RYA weather book.

Not for the nerd mostly superficial knowledge

I have taught offshore ocean passagemaking for 45 years and have been looking the entire time for a comprehensive introduction to marine weather. This latest edition has been substantially updated and is even better than the last. We use this as a text book on our ocean sail-training expeditions. One major difference is that the author, Chris Tibbs, has twice skippered around the world race boats, has dozens of Atlantic crossings under his belt, has a masters degree in meteorology and trained at the British MetService and worked as a forecaster. I can't recommend this book highly enough. Actually, all the RYA training books, of which this is one, are absolutely tops.
