Living in an area with a LOT of deer, I always use deer whistles on all my vehicles to include my motorcycle. Do they work? Well, I would say, if I never hit a deer, I won't know if they work and IF I do hit a deer, I will know that they don't work. I will say that I have used others in the past and I have seen a Lot of deer on my drive that don't run out in front of me and basically just freeze in position. Now, this set comes with a lot of whistles for a very cheap price, however, they are not as quality made as others I have used in the past. These, when mounted, are very loose. I am referring to the whistle connection to the base is very loose and moves around a lot. I would think that it is going to break off at some point just due to 70 mph wind on it while driving. For the price, these are just disposable items that you can risk, but for just a nominal amount more, you can get more solid devices. Hope that helps you today.

So far I haven't hit any deer, or anything else; there are plenty of opportunities around here, though. I had intended to use these with my Mazda, which would be badly damaged if I hit a deer. But it is down for serious repairs, possibly for quite some time, so I mounted these on my truck, a box-style GMC 3500. There is enough air flow right behind the grille where I attached the adhesive pads for these to put up a pretty good whistling, audible in front without the sound being obnoxious inside the cab. I am keeping the second pair until my car returns. My truck would survive a deer strike, except possibly the plastic grille, but I still don't want to run over any animals, especially cats. As well as they hear, I'm hoping these whistles might work for them, too. These could not be easier to mount.
