These work great on batteries and I will use them for that as well. But the real reason I got these is for mounting things to my Permobil wheelchair. All Permobil chairs have 2 parallel T track slots on each side 1"(25mm) apart. And also 2 slots with same dimensions on underside of each armrest. The slots will accept a M6 nut up to 10mm. These are a bit narrower, but not so narrow that they slip out. The narrowness allows the nut to move around in the slot enough to accommodate either 25mm or 1" spacing on your mounting brackets. Typical M6 hex nuts do not work well in these slots because they tend to round over and spin when tightened aggressively. Square nuts resist spinning, but they take up the entire width of the T slot, making them sometimes difficult to insert and requiring more precise holes in your mounting brackets. These rectangular nuts are the best solution I've found for the price. This style of screw doesn't have sharp edges to catch on clothes. It can be tightened with either a wrench or screwdriver. They are a very good length for most 3D printed brackets. And the washer and lockwasher help it stay tight.

I would have to say that it is a great pain to have the incorrect hardware for connecting a battery wire to the battery, I never can make it work correctly any fix is never fruitful. Besides being stainless and never gonna rust, these can slip into place and lock so you can thread tight properly Without needing to grasp it. Also a great feeling to know that they will come off in the same manner. Every mechanic should have a supply of these. Great price for a proper product that will last a long time and never rust.

don't buy the square nuts are useless way too small .
