BRADDOCK NOT THE GREATEST BOXER BUT A GREAT FIGHTER IN AND OUT OF THE RING.
Excellent boxing film , the details of the time and Braddocks fall and broken hands and having to work on the docks and claim benefit later. He returned the money when he made his amazing comeback. The fights were great , and how the work on the docks built his left hand as he was a one armed journeyman till then. Crowe played Braddock as a decent fellah which he apparently was. I loved it only thing was , apparently Max Baer was given a bad press , he was a bit of an exhibitionist and possibly could be nasty as many self styled entertainers can be, but as his son has angrily stated he was a good man and didn't gloat over a man , possibly two he was supposed to have killed. He helped the widow and family. My favourite boxing film , you'll have a tear in your eye at the end .

A triumph for the common man...
Having read and been influenced by many reviews on this site over the past couple of years, this is the first time I have been moved to actually write one of my own.Cinderella Man has to be the best film of 2005. It is a heart warming story which is wonderfully acted and sensitively directed by Ron Howard. Russell Crowe is magnificent in the title role and his performance is excellently supported by the underrated Paul Giamatti as his long time friend and trainer.Renee Zellweger is also very good, though possibly slightly wasted, in the less demanding role of Braddock's wife.Others before me have outlined the story admirably so I don't wish to go into great detail. I would just like to say that I benefitted from not previously knowing the history or outcome of the story. Suffice to say at the film's climax, when underdog Jim Braddock is in the ring fighting champion Max Baer for the world heavyweight title, I was at first on the edge of my seat, and by the fifteenth round up on my feet punching thin air as I tried to help Braddock with every ounce of energy.I could go further with my ultimate reaction, but that would unfairly give away the ending to anyone who hasn't yet seen the movie. In summary, if you enjoy films that deal with good old fashioned human values such as loyalty, humility, love and courage over adversity, told in a sincere yet unsentimental way, then I suggest you purchase this movie today. You will not be disappointed...

Nobody does true-story heroism like Ron Howard
My heart was firmly lodged in my throat for the last hour and a half of The Cinderella Man. Nobody does true-story heroism like Ron Howard, and few can do heroes like Russell Crowe. Though Howard fictionalizes his subjects, and does not pretend to make documentaries, he does accurately depict the feeling and the major points of his subjects.Jim Braddock was a depression-era boxer who everybody thought was down for the count. Though there is a lot of boxing in this film, this is not a boxing movie, but rather his story and the story of the family that inspired him to fight back against prejudice and hopelessness, to rise to heights that would inspire a nation. Braddock is portrayed in a moving and powerful manner, with remarkable performances all around, one of the best scripts I can remember in recent years, and occasionally brutal action.

Cinderella Man wins by a knockout
I’ve been a Rocky fan all my life (Rocky I only) - However, the fact of the matter is that Cinderella Man out boxes Rocky on every front.Superb in every way.Maybe Russell’s last great movie before he starting eating for a living. And Paul Giamatti is simply outstanding.Well done all.Happy Days!Kerry

great
Like all blu-rays when compared to watching the DVD version or an old video one watching this film is a clearer, more detailed experience and in many cases it's like looking at the film for the first time as the film stock used to transfer to Blu-Ray is usually "worked on" first to get as good a copy as possible. My taste in films may not be the same as yours so if you want to know about this film I suggest that you use the internet to find 2 or 3 reviews by experienced film reviewers and make your judgment whether or not to buy this film. I I have watched over 650 films in my life and I rate this one 8/10.
