PanasonicDMW-HGR2 Authentic LUMIX GX9 Digital Camera Grip, Black

I got this for my Panasonic GX 85, it fits perfectly. I tried a less expensive alternative first I found it to be well-made all aluminum except the base plate. Finish was very rough with sharp edges suggesting it would harm and scratch the bottom of my camera base. Note, when manufacturing process gets sloppy. So I checked out the Panasonic version that was made for the camera both GX 85 and GX 9, I checked the picture on the Amazon page of the item and I could see that the base had a small strip across the bottom that would protect the camera. So I ordered it and was pleasantly surprised the bottom was indeed cushioned and the grip on it was actually slightly taller then the first grip. I did read the reviews on this Panasonic grip before I purchased it, but was troubled that many of the reviews were suggesting the plate was all plastic. This is not true. It is a light aluminum on the bottom, and a well-made composite material for the grip and by the way, on the grip itself behind it it was a soft strip so no harm to the camera.Cons… You have to remove the grip to change the battery and card. For me that is not a problem, I would rather have a camera in like new condition than have a scratched up one. This is my own personal preference but then again that’s why I have cameras that I purchased in the 1970s and still look like new.One more thing, I did think of using a file to take the sharpness off the bottom of the other plate I first purchased but decided I shouldn’t have to do that to a $40 plate and only spend another $20 to you have grip made for its intended use.

I love my Lumix GX85 but I have larger hands and it makes it hard to hold on well. This grip solves that problem and it doesn’t extend any farther than the 20mm lense to easily fits in my bag. The only one downside is you have to remove it for SD card access but that is just a minor inconvenience.

As soon as I found out that this item would also fit on my GX85 I tried to get one, but it was back-ordered for the longest time. For me, this is exactly what the GX85 needed for my hand to comfortably hold the camera. I've always felt like my fingers were in a awkward position when holding it without this grip and they would get cramped after a while chasing my kids around with the camera. Granted it will not suddenly make your GX85/GX9 feel like a larger DSLR, but it is a huge improvement.Reason I took one star off from giving it a five star score is two things: 1. Price is a bit high for what you get. 2. Wish they would have came up with a better solution to keep the grip on and still be able to change out the battery. It is quite cumbersome to swap batteries now as the grip will need to come off first.In the end, the trade off for me is worth it, I just need to charge my camera more often so I don't risk on using it when the battery is low.

This grip fits well on my GX85, and makes holding with longer and heavier lenses easier. It is, though, ridiculously overpriced for what it is... which is just a hunk of plastic. The fact that the design requires you to remove the grip to change memory cards, or batteries is just poor design. IT does the job, but at a high price, and could do the job better.

I absolutely needed this for my GX85, as my thumb had no place to rest (kept pressing buttons by mistake because my hands are too large).This grip seems to be well built like pretty much anything Panasonic makes. My issues with it are the fact that it doesn't flow well near the top right front of the GX85 (seems a few millimeters short), and you have to remove it to access your SD card and battery.They could have designed this grip with a cut out for the small battery/SD card door.Also, the wheel you use to tighten it to the camera body is small. That wheel would have been easier to tighten/loosen had it been bigger.

this product is well made. looks just like it is part of the camera. I don't really care about the battery thing. happy with it.

This Grip should come with the GX85, as the camera is difficult to handle without it!

The Lumix GX9 is an awesome camera and I have owned a lot of cameras over the years but this one is just so enjoyable. The one thing, its a smaller size than its predecessor the GX8 which fits my hands quite nicely so the optional hand grip for the GX9 was just right.

This feels well made and sturdy despite being plastic. It provides a nice bit of extra grip and security but with one flaw... There's no access to the battery or memory card with this attached. The battery life of the GX9 isn't super, I can use around 3 or 4 in a day and I have to remove the grip every time I need to change the battery. It's not the end of the world as it's relatively quick and easy to remove and replace, but an unwanted (and unnecessary) step. There are 3rd party versions with battery/card access and for a good bit cheaper.

Very well made as you would expect from panansonic, but not very well designed as once you fit this, it will block the access to the battery, so in order to change the battery you will have to take this off.

Grip arrived on time and is a great fit to my GX85. This grip makes a very good small camera much better and easier to use. Expensive, but worth it.

Really happy with how this makes the camera feel - far more secure in my hands. VERY expensive for what it is though!
