Mold
After I put the sign a few weeks later visible mold started appearing at the base. After I removed the sign and visible mold a few weeks later the mold has spreader everywhere so I had to throw it all away

Decent - Out of 12 seeds, 7 Sprouted, 4 Died, only 2 Look Good - pot also came cracked
So growing trees from seed is harder than it looks. Although we know about picking weeds in our yard of all the oak and maple sprouts, the reality is there are hundreds if not thousands of seeds which are put there and fail. Even though many vegetables and flowers might sprout, trees are hard to get going.Unfortunately, that is true with these too. There are PLENTY of seeds here that they give you of both, probably 50 of each. That said, we took 12 here, 6 in each pot, and followed the directions:- First, soak them for 12-24 hours- Second, put the soil in the pot and add warm water (each little puck is so small, and makes SO MUCH dirt! Both went over the top of the pot and we had to throw some out!)- Third, put the seeds just barely under the soil and lightly cover- Fourth, keep the soil moist but not wet and not dry- Fifth, cover the top until they sprout- Six, after a few days of sprouting, give them indirect light- Seven, continue to rotate them each day around the indirect light source- Eighth -- not there yet!Although we got 7 sprouts, not bad for tree seeds (but not necessarily great), four died when they were exposed to indirect light. They rotted in the middle and toppled over. Another one is small still and I can't tell if it is just not popping up or if it is dying too. Of the 12 seeds, we really only have 2 that look good. As you can see from the photo, one is starting to get the brown coloration around its neck, which is a great sign that it is starting to grow an outside bark/tougher exterior.Overall, the tools this comes with are nice. There are some good chances here to make it work and keep trying. It is fun to try a bonsai from seed as opposed to just buying one at the store that has already grown. So we will keep trying with this! I might try to put the seeds into something like an aero garden next. We will see but this is a pretty cool kit that is better than most in terms of supplies, including the clippers! One of the bottoms of a pot did some broken and cracked, which is a bummer, but that's okay. Not too bad, we would recommend it for the price!
