So this is something you need to hone your expectations for. It feels like it is for taming frizz. As for a gel replacement , it is not. Perhaps you can combine it but overall I like having a more natural look so this works properly for me. I will be checking out other goldwell products however they are indeed pricy

The way this cream works reminded me of the pink gel my mom used to dip her comb into before she put my hair in the pink foam rollers.After I towel-dried my hair I put this on, following the instructions. I just let my hair dry naturally after I combed it. When I combed my hair, it was stiff and kind of crunchy. My hair stayed in the shape it dried in. It didn't feel weighted down.

I really like using this styling cream.First, it smells lovely. It's not overly perfumey but light, fresh and floral.I have long, thick, wavy hair and this does define the waves without frizziness.It is not gel and while it does have some hold to it, it's not a substitute if you use hair gel and are looking for something that keeps your hair where you want it for longer periods of time.The cream is smooth and the consistency is similar to a thick moisturizer or regular conditioner.You can scrunch up your curls to get a curlier effect, but I use it more as a way to keep my waves from looking frizzy.This is made in Germany and I think the quality is similar to a hair product used in salons.

This defining cream by Goldwell is great at defining my wavy hair without leaving it crunchy or stiff. I use a little bit because my hair is very fine and I don't want to weigh it down.

Overall, I wasn't impressed by this. I've been growing out my hair and my hair has some natural curls. I was hoping to add definition and more definition and so my hair is easier to manage and control, but it didn't really do what I was hoping. Maybe it didn't work for my hair. My hair is black and naturally thick. I did follow the procedure and I wasn't overly impressed. This is definitely subjective and maybe someone else's hair will have better results.

It has taken me a few tries to figure out where in my routine this cream belongs. It's much tackier than most curl creams I've tried, so for my first attempt, I used it in place of gel. That result wasn't great. My hair was a bit fluffier but also stringier (smaller clumps of hair per coil), and I wasn't able to get it to refresh nicely for a second day.So I tried it in place of a curl cream and with gel afterward. That use works much better, and I had soft, non-frizzy curls with the combination. It still didn't do as good of a job on an attempted refresh as the product I had been using before, but the smaller tube is far more portable than a big tub. If you travel frequently, that seems like it may be an important advantage over most curl creams I've used, all of which are in big tubs.

The smell is clean and fresh, and the cream is thick enough to suit my natural curls. It doesn't have a super strong hold, which I prefer. I like the definition it provides without the crunch.
