Orbelle Trading Ga Ga Cradle, French White

I bought this cradle because the one I really wanted got backordered and went up in price. This one was similar, but cost less so...The seller for ours was Cymax. We chose the cherry one. It arrived quickly and unlike other reviews stating it needs carpentry skills mine went together fine. My 12 year old son put it together. Not sure if that defect they talk about is an issue with the french white or if I just happened to get a good one. Anyway, one end doesn't quite screw completely together because the board the mattress sits on does seem a little too long, but it is so minor that just some mild sanding on the mattress board is all that would be needed to get a really snug fit. However, it isn't needed as it is sturdy and tight even with the minor gap (that maybe you could slide a quarter between so is a very minor gap). It arrived in great condition, no scratches or defects to speak of. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to others given that it is a beautiful heirloom style cradle that will get passed down and is a great price.Just want to add too that I had trouble finding sheets that fit properly so I went with the suggestion given from another review to use king size pillow cases. I noticed too that a pillow case is what they used in the hospital nursery on their bassinet mattress which is similar. This has worked out perfectly! They are a great fit and as the previous reviewer stated they are better quality and can be used later for king size pillows so more use for your money.

The finish on this product will make baby's room smell like the inside of a Harbor Freight Tools store--a strong chemical, industrial, Made-in-China smell. Probably not what you want for your precious little new member of the family. The strong smell dissipates after a while to where it doesn't stink up the room, but the smell is still there after two months if you put your nose up to it.It's a nice enough looking piece (the finish is obviously sprayed on) and if you look up close you can see some spray imperfections. The packaging of mine allowed some of the parts to rub together and erode the finish in other places. But sitting in room it looks like a quality piece of furniture.It is easy to put together and is sturdy and functional, but the "mattress" is a joke of a half-inch of foam rubber sandwiched in thin vinyl and doesn't hold its shape when the elastic of cradle sheet pulls on it.If you are willing to let it air out for a week before letting your baby near it, spend more money to upgrade the mattress, and spend more money for a bumper to keep your baby away from whatever toxic waste this thing is painted with, then this cradle is OK, but it's not the screaming deal it appears to be.

First cradle I ordered had hairline cracks everywhere and was actually coming apart, the original paint lines made it obvious that it was almost 1/4" off in areas from what it was originally when painted. I tried making it work and fixing it with a rubber mallet but it wouldn't budge. Called Amazon right away and they sent another one out overnight and the second one I got was perfect. Due to the inconvenience I'm knocking off one star. The mattress they provide as was stated by others is a joke at an inch thick. Be sure to order a better quality mattress like I did at the same time I ordered the first cradle. Only other complaint is, the turned legs are slightly different from what's shown in the photo, I prefer the tapered legs shown over the more straight turned legs it came with.

I bought this sometime in the middle of April. Being pregnant comes with completing tasks whenever I feel like it, and as such I only got around to assembling it this past weekend. I have to admit that my partner and I were very disappointed with the finished assembled product. The material isn't the greatest. If you aren't careful and the pieces bump together it can likely leave a scratch or dent, therefore please be extremely careful when assembling. In addition the mattress is very thin. I recommend purchasing a thicker mattress to ensure the comfort of your baby. It looks too cumbersome for my liking. If I wanted to move it from room to room it would involve way too much effort. I won't recommend putting a baby beyond the age of 3, or maybe 4 months in it as it can rock pretty wildly. I'm also not comfortable with the one piece of metallic brace to place at the bottom of it, as in my eyes it doesn't create enough support. If you use the original mattress it came with, your baby may not have sufficient cushioning if god forbid the bottom falls through. I say this too because the grooves to slide in the base of the bassinet do not fit flush into the sides of it. I would recommend shopping around a bit more before investing. I just asked to return it, I hope I can.

I LOVE my cradle! So thrilled to have found it on Amazon. I searched high and low for an elegant, classy looking cradle. I am NOT fond of the standard bassinets found on every well-known baby site and I definitely do NOT like the bassinets on wheels. I wanted the look of a crib without the size. This fit the bill perfectly and it looks awesome in my bedroom. Every family member who's seen it loves it. It's definitely an heirloom type of piece and could definitely be passed down from family member to family member. Very pleased with my purchase.

This cradle was exactly as expected, other than the color, as others have noted. It is more of a bright white than "French white". It happens to work just fine in the nursery but I wish the description could be more accurate. I don't know how you could get any more stark white. Anyway, it seems to be of great quality and I'm happy overall. The cradle we received happened to fit together well and my husband had no problems putting it together. (previous reviewers mentioned the bottom not fitting) We haven't used it yet but I'm sure we will be happy to have it once she arrives.

I love this bassinet, it’s so beautiful. I didn’t have any issues putting it together like other reviewers said and there were no flaws in the paint at all. The mattress is very thin and doesn’t seem very comfortable but I’m still giving 5 stars because I didn’t buy it for the mattress and planned on replacing it anyways.
