Large Hot and Cold Therapy Gel Ice Pack with Wrap by Cureve (12" x 15") - Reusable to Treat Injuries, Aches and Pains on Hip, Knee, Side, Back and Shoulder

For 30 plus years I’ve needed ice/heat packs for a knee, shoulder and neck/back. After having tried packs of various sizes and gels, I have found the Cureve large the best of ten or so I previously owned. It excels over the others in size and performance. The size large affects my entire knee joint and the soft flexibility of the ice cold gel conforms to help it stay put. The high quality cover with strong twin “straps” insure that fit even if you wish to get up and go about doing things. Haven’t had a chance to use it for heat yet but I have great confidence the it won’t let me down. Many years ago I had a good flexible one but it, and a second one sprang leaks. The plastic encasement on the Cureve is much thicker and there too, I have great confidence that this was a fine purchase.

I contacted Cureve before buying the Gel Pack to check the measurements. They were very helpful and responded quickly with the information that I needed. The Gel Pack is a perfect size - it cools easily in the freezer and exactly fits into the case (although sometimes I just use it with a towel over my skin). I recently had hip replacement and use the Gel Pack several times a day after exercising. I've also used it when my muscles were tired, and it was helpful then, too. The Velcro tie keeps it secure over my leg, although it doesn't stretch around my hips (I wouldn't expect it to).

My wife purchased this ice pack and this is her review. I've only had this for about a week and have used it 4 times to ice my back and hip. So far is has worked great. The ice back folds and fits easily into the freezer, not taking up much space. I like that it is larger than most of the ice packs I have looked at. The straps velcro around the body and have stretch to them, so they fit most body sizes. It stays where it is suppose to, even when you stand or walk to another room in the house. It I want to apply heat to my back, I will be using a heating pad. I don't think I would use the same bag for ice, then heat in the microwave, but that's just my opinion. I would recommend this product.

I liked this for its ease of use but I found that it wasn't very cold and didn't last very long even after being over night in the freezer. Prior to purchase I was using a bag of ice and this was not even close to being as cold. The 2 cent bag of ice was also much more effective at reducing the swelling in my leg. It's a good product with very long straps to secure it to any part of the body but realize that it does have some caveats.

I received this large therapy gel pal. It is great as long as it works. I used it for a pinched nerve in my leg. It definitely provides relief. The straps are nice for stability. I like it so much I order another this size & one larger. NOW THE BAD NEWS!!!!!!!!! Got this March 27. Put it is freezer & started using the next day alternating between the 3 pack. I didn’t use them every day & they do provide relief, EXCEPT after I took it off my leg & got the other one, I felt something wet on my hands. It pack has a slit in the crease in the little indentation part above the word curve & the substance was leaking out. Nooooo. Can’t believe I ONLY GOT @ a months use out of it. Of course you only have 30 days that they honor the return. Seems Pretty unfair that this pack lasted 2 mths. I’m hoping the other last longer. I’m was going to order 2 more but NOT NOW WHEN IT ONLY LAST 2 mths.,UNHAPPY CAMPER!!!!!!!

I have had continuous back problems. The pain could vary from my shoulders, neck, to my lower back. I often would use a frozen item in the fridge (whatever I had at the time) to ice the area. It wasn't always as ideal or comfortable because it was either hard and frozen in some particular form. With the Cureve, it is very comfortable as it covers an area and is malleable. The additional velcro brace attached is really helpful to keep the pack in place. Back pain is not always alleviated with applying cold and what I love about this product is its ability to be warm similar to a hot water bag. Before I used a warm towel and it did not last very long to keep warmth applied in one area for a while. With the therapy gel pack, I am able to rest with heat applied for at least increments of fifteen minutes or longer.

My daughter has been suffering from knee pain for a few years and we finally got her into physical therapy and finally surgery to fix the issue. This ice pack has been a lifesaver since we bought it. It's large enough to provide relief to a large area and the design allowed it to wrap around her leg so she could wear it while she walked if needed. Now as she's in recovery from surgery, it's still been a huge help keeping the swelling down. It holds the cold well for a long period of time but refreezes pretty quickly. We haven't tried heating it so I can't comment on how well it would work for that.

I noticed that the product pictures on the detail page do not show you one side of the cureve wrap which is a very thin net. I had assumed both sides looked the same and was disappointed to see the side that touches you is so thin that is it almost like putting the ice pack directly on the skin (which cureve cautions against and which was the main reason I wanted to wrap in the first place). I tried to use it the other way around (thick cloth onto skin), but the velcro will not work comfortably as its only designed to work one way. The only solution I found around it was to find a towel to wrap around it and then put it in the bag but then it does not close fully. I will continue to use it as I am outside the US but I am sorry to say I did not receive what I expected. On the other hand, the ice pack itself is good and comes in a well sealed package which seems to be of good quality.
