𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲As purchased previously, this bag was nearly perfect, lacking only one thing: a handle. I posted a review (below) giving instructions to a DIY project to add a handle, and spoke with the manufacturer. Now my new messenger bag arrived, with a canvas-reinforced leather handle: just what the doctor ordered!I mentioned this messenger bag in the present opening chapter to The Luddite's Guide to Technology: The Past Writes Back to Humane Tech!, which offers alternatives to smartphone addictions.𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬This is an excellent bag with one capital defect: it doesn't have a normal handle. I would like, in this review, to explain how I fixed it on a DIY basis.First of all, besides the bag, I used a black version of National / Stanley Hardware Door Pull - Heavy Duty 6-3/4" from a local Menard's; I couldn't find the black version on Amazon. You don't have to use this exact one, but it's built to stand up to abuse, and it's built not to cause pain in your hand if you lift or hold it. If you use another handle, make sure the nuts and bolts will go through the holes.The other hardware I used include washers with an inner diameter of 1/4" and outer diameter of 1" (Grip Fast 1/4" ID x 1" OD Fender Washer), bolts with an outer diameter of 1/4" (Grip Fast 1/4"-20 x 3/4" Phillips Pan Machine Screws), and 1/4" outer diameter lock nuts (Grip Fast 1/4-20 Nylon Lock Nut), plus a Sharpie, needles, and a good bit of Super Glue.(I apologize for failing to provide links to most of the hardware store items; I searched and couldn't find them anywhere on Amazon.)What I did is the following:At the top of the flap (the one with leather straps), I placed the handle at the top of the bag, and used a permanent marker to mark the location of the screwholes (first image).Then I removed the handle (second image), and applied superglue liberally nearby the marks for the screwholes, but only where it would be covered by the handle (third image). The superglue isn't perfect, but it significantly stiffens the fabric and slows (but does not stop) fraying, etc.Then I pushed a pin or needle through all original screwhole markings, opened the flap to be inside-out, and applied what should have been superglue to the opposite side of the flap with the needles by the screwhole (fourth image). (I was a bit imprecise on a couple of things, but it turned out OK.)After that, I did the next best thing I had to drilling through the screwholes (fifth image). I did not want to just push a punch, awl or nail through it because that would be a bit like a mixed message after stiffening the cloth with superglue; a drill will remove material instead of pushing everything to the side and weakening the superglued fabric.After that, I put the handle in place and screwed it in (sixth image), opened up the flap (seventh image), then added washers to the bolts (eighth image), and screwed the lock nuts on to the bolts. This last bit took a fair amount of force; I used a vice and a screwdriver to tighten everything snugly.The handle could further benefit from a handle wrap, but as it stands it is good. In the last picture (not the best execution overall), I am holding an empty bag by its newly added handle.

I was looking for a bag for my Mac and I chose this one for my first sight on it and I found that this is an extremely satisfied product I have ever got from Amazon. High quality leather masterfully sewed with durable and rugged wash canvas fabric to make it has long lasting durability and it seems to I don’t need to worry about it’s easy broken so that I can carry it everywhere.My favorite is that this bag has several pockets for various uses. The main storage compartment, I can put my Mac, my notebooks or important documents into. Two large front pockets are great for easy access of frequently handled items such as tickets, pens… One zipper pocket for significant articles like wallets keys, USB driver, and two Inner wall pockets can store my cellphones, chargers, or glasses… These design satisfy my various uses and I don’t need to worry about that I can’t take all these items any more. What’s more, the magnets are strong enough that you how to hold both sides to come undone. If you only pull the top, you will fill the tug, making it perfect to walk around and fell safe with my laptop, phone, and money. Really nice bag!!!Great design and great size for me to carry out, I take it to my workplace on the workdays or the coffee store on the weekend for my own “work time” and it looks good and suitable size for me. I don’t worry that it is too small to carry everything I need to take or it is too big to look comfortable. Love it!!! Great buy!! I am considering buy another one for my brother.

This bag is really really really amazing!!! I like it very much especially for the plenty of pockets! I like to organize my things and put them in the fixed position so I need a bag with many different kinds of pockets to organize my different stuffs and fortunately this bag satisfy my needs perfectly!!At first, I am worried about this bag, just like other bags I have bought, can’ t hold all the things and will mess up the stuffs. However, it’s really out of my expectation, with this bag, I can take my MacBook, mini ipad, document folders and books. What’s more, I am surprised at numerous pockets. One main compartment(for Macbook), two front slip pocket(for iPad Mini), one outer back magnetic pocket, two innier slip pocket(for keys, USB drvier…), one inner zip pocket(for important stuffs like wallet, licenses…) and two pen holder. I can take all these things and I can organize them so that I don’t need to take time to find the stuff I want to. It’s really convenient for me. I LOVE it!!!Also, it is very nice canvas bag. All seams are neat and straight, the leather cover/flap is nice and soft and the magnetic clasps fit (each one attaches at two points). High density washed canvas, crazy horse leather, bronze hardware and high-density cotton straps come to be a durable bag, so I don’t have to worry about that it will broken easily. Great bag!!! It 's a great buy!

This bag has lots of pockets, which is helpful to me as a school music teacher. However, I don't spend time in crowds on massed transit, so I don't need all the buckles. If I were riding the train, I probably would close everything up and be grateful for them, but for my purposes some of the flaps and buckles are overkill and generally in the way.The other downside is that there is no pocket that will hold a full size water bottle. The outside pockets at either end will hold a small bottle, so that's what I use, but they are so awkward to get open and fit the bottle in that most of the time my water bottle doesn't make it into the bag. The bag doesn't stand up by itself, but with the buckles closed it's not very floppy. The shoulder strap is comfortable.
