Kick Ass with Mel Robbins: Life-Changing Advice from the Author of “The 5 Second Rule”

The sessions are an eye opener and make the person being coached realize that their painful past require help from a licensed therapist
The author does say, over and over, to "go see a professional" to work through some issues that are causing the root cause of procrastination and other "symptoms". The sessions are an eye opener and make the person being coached realize that their painful past require help from a licensed therapist. Overall, this was a book about people who wanted a butt-kicking to help them get going in the right direction, like seeing a professional and/or a licensed therapist. The butt-kicking coaching was an eyeopener for me and I'm sure for many others. If you don't get hung up on the technical details, like the fact that Mel digs up past traumas and isn't a licensed therapist (which she encourages the people being coached to go do) then this book can be beneficial and entertaining. Could've done without so much cursing, but hey, that's her style (and the book title lets you know it!) and the people being coached knew that. Just remember, these are COACHING sessions, and coaches prepare people for the "big game", so Mel is simply mentally prepping these people and the listener for what help really needs to take place. Insightful book overall.

At first I was like, meh
At first I was like, meh. Why bother right? It's just some chicka who wants to talk. Then I went, well, I liked her other book, give this one a try. So I did. I paid for my audio book. She's engaging, she's thoughtful, she tells it like it is. The people she talked to, each person was honest and real. Sure.. some of the stories seemed coached at first. But.. in all honestly, I got something huge from each persons story. Yeah, some of the brutal honesty hurt, but it was also refreshing! I liked that Mel realized her audience was full of real people who had real problems. And overall. i really truly felt this book was worthy of my hard earned money.

I feel ripped off.
I have purchased a number of self help books through the years. I am a mental health provider, and I know the score on pop psychology books. This book however is in a category of it's own. I have never heard such drivel in my life. How any publisher would put this out is amazing to me. I guess a catchy title is all it takes to make a few bucks. Her "interventions" totally staged. Quite obvious that she knows nothing of people or mental health. Don't waste your money. I have been ripped off before, but have never written a book review before. But this was offensively stupid. I feel taken.
