Good compact hat press, but some safety improvements required
The media could not be loaded. This mini hat press impressed me with my recent hats project. I was making these hats for an upcoming event and a regular iron would not help as it requires a hat press. The hat press is a compact machine and very easy to use. It came with the machine, heat transfer tape, a heat resisted glove and some assembly screws & accessories. Before using the hat press machine, there is a base plate that is provided and need to unscrew all the 4 screws and attach the standing plates to align with the holes and tighten them. This is a uneasy process and not going to like it. Wish the design could be improved with another screwing mechanism.Once you have the base plate attached to the clamps, plugin the machine and hold the power button for about 3 secs. The first setting is green light which produces light temperature, continue pressing the power button for 3 more secs, then the blue light which gives more heat temperature and the final press is the red light which is really hot.I tried with Blue and red and finally for my vinyl press, the red light temperature worked perfectly. After the machine gets heated, there is an additional plate provided to keep your machine on top of it.Cons:1. Assembly of the base plate to the clamps is a tedious process with the given wrench.2. when holding and pressing the machine, sometimes the hand goes on top of the power button and the device changes to the next setting. I was doing the hats with red light and most of the times, the machine turns off as my hand goes on the power button unintentionally.3. The machine releases very hot temperature and make sure there is no plastic or vinyl on the surface area.4. Holding the base plate to align the hat is not a smooth process. While the machine is hot, holding the base plate and the hat and the machine, it is not safe sometimes. Wish the base plate can be locked and stable position is required.Overall, the machine worked like charm, but the safety and design improvements could make it a better machine.

Really happy with this...
As with everything you are going to have to "fiddle" with this in order to get it how you want. That said, once you get it where you like it works just fine. Overall I would say it is easy to use and works as expected. I believe the price should be a bit lower, but I guess that's just me. I'm happy with how mine works. The heat-resistant tape and glove along with all of the other kit items were really appreciated. Recommend.

Kind of complicated to use, but it does make hats
The assembly, and use instructions both are kind of complex processes for this heat press. But it does work, with some effort. And I was able to make some curved bill hats okay. I think it should be a little cheaper for how difficult it is to get working. But I am also happy to have it for crafting purposes. Just be aware it might frustrate you a bit first!

Omg GAME CHANGER
Did not know these existed, now cannot live without! Never again will I be frustrated with putting a print on a hat again, this makes it so even and solid with one perfect press.

Good, but room for improvement
The main question for many buyers is whether or not this hat press does the job, and the answer is yes. It's the right size, heats up quickly and does what it's supposed to do, so it's a good product. That said, the manufacturer has missed the mark in a couple of ways that do not detract from the functionality, but certainly detract from the convenience and usability.Pros:- The unit heats up quickly. There are three heat settings, signified by green, blue, or red lighting. I have used it in the blue setting. (But, see cons below.)- The size of the unit is perfect for hats, as is the curvature. It fits conveniently in an insulating base when not in use. (But see cons below.)- A base stand is provided to elevate the hat for easier pressing. (But, see cons below.)- The instructions provided are in understandable English, and large enough to read. (But, see cons below.)- Heat resistant positioning tape and an insulated glove are provided, along with a canvas storage bag (which seems to serve a dual purpose, see cons below).Cons:- The desired heat setting cannot be selected with a simple switch or button toggle. Rather, you must hold down the power button for three seconds to select green, and either release and then press down for another three seconds to select blue, or continue to hold the button for about a second. And then the same sequence must be repeated to select red, and then once again to turn it off. This is oddly complex for such a simple function, and suggests it was a cost saving measure to force all that functionality into the power button rather than having two buttons - on/off and green/blue/red. At the offered price point, I think engineering it with an extra 25 cent cost for a second button would have been wise.- Out of the box, the press base sits in an insulated cradle, and the heat press sits on top of the base. However, the normal use case is to elevate the base so a hat will fit over it. This requires installing a stand, comprised of two brackets and brace. Installing the base requires removing four bolts from the bottom of the base, installing the brackets with those bolts, then installing the brace with another two bolts. Now, this is by no means difficult, but it's most definitely tedious and inefficient if you expect to use it both with and without the stand for different use cases. A better design would allow the stand to be attached and removed with some kind of thumb latching to secure it in place rather than bolts. Again, at the offered price point, a little more engineering effort on this would make sense.- The instructions, while reasonably clear and understandable, are spartan. There is no mention of the support stand other than showing it in the parts list, and there are no instructions for how to assemble it. Also, the product listing references a "rounded base" as an alternative to the "curved base" used with the stand, and this is shown in the listing pictures. There is no "rounded base" in the parts listing, so this appears to be referring to the canvas storage bag included with the product. Presumably, you are expected to find some kind of stuffing to place inside the storage bag and then pull the drawstring to hold it together, and use that for the "rounded base", but this is just a guess as it is not mentioned or illustrated anywhere in the instructions. If you're going to do this, be sure to use stuffing that is heat resistant and won't melt or cause burns. Better yet, the manufacturer should have included heat resistant stuffing for the bag as part of the product.Summary: This is a good product and works well, but at the offered price point it should not have the flaws mentioned in the cons above.
