I purchased this for testing of water sources, especially lead content. I used one of the 5-in-one (metal testing) strips to test water from a local spring, and initially was pleased to see that all 5 metal tests correspond with the "0 mg/L" box.HOWEVER I was shocked to see that the next colour "measure" for lead is 20mg/L, meaning the test is unlikely to show any lead content below 10mg/l.For comparison, the maximum lead content permissible in both UK and Australian tap water is 0.01mg/l (10ppb)! The USA Environmental Protection Agency even recommends a level below 0.01mg/l for children, stating "there is no safe level of lead".Hence, the level of lead in the water could be ONE THOUSAND TIMES HIGHER than the law allows (and 10,000 times higher than that recommended for kids!!) - yet this test kit WOULD NOT ALERT to the severe hazard posed!This kit might be acceptable for remediation at source, of severe industrial pollution. HOWEVER it is totally unsuitable for testing drinking water (as it is marketed) and should be withdrawn from sale immediately!

Hice 3 mediciones, agua del grifo, agua de jarra filtrada y agua mineral, lo mas curioso es que en las 3 tomas el nivel del cloro era el mismo 0, por lo tanto no es nada fiable este test.

I got a new water softener and after an great initial result, I believed the water was becoming harder. The installer took my water away and tested it and said it was soft. I did not believe that result so I ordered these strips. Sure enough they indicated that the water was hard. We found that the salt had bridged in the softener's tank. We solved that problem, and after a few days, I knew and the strips proved the water was soft. I had to cycle through the hot water as it is in a tank and has to empty for the change to be noticed. However the change in the cold water is almost immediate because it is provided on demand. You can see the two strips here. The lighter bluish one is from the softer cold tap and the light purple is from the harder hot tap. Yes the differences are subtle, and if you are red/green colour blind you might not be able to discern the purple colour. The strip at the top is purple showing hard water and the bottom one is blue showing soft. The only thing I do not like is that once exposed to the air, all the test strips are now pale blue instead of white. I would like to tell the manufacturer that they should put smaller numbers of them in sealed plastic sleeves so you only have to open a few at a time. However, I discovered that the product is made in Indonesia and I can't figure out how to reach them.

We use these at our place in Mexico to test our household water that goes through a softener. The seem accurate. They also have stayed “fresh” even in the ultra high humidity when kept sealed tightly in their container.

Not something that you can rely on to adjust let say a water softerner . The gap between the results are way too large, jumping from 50 to 120 to 250 . There is not enough difference between the color to tell exactly whats going on. Ill try to find a better alternative. I dont mind to pay more to get better result. To their defense it looks to me that all the strips on Amazon works in the same range ... Ill try another brand with different color on the scale to see if it helps a making better decision. If not Ill return them also.
