I love that there is a clear protective top which makes it possible to cycle in the rain without my pup getting soaked, plus the added bonus that he gets to look outside and enjoy the ride. The grey material is simular to tent fabric and repels water as well. I find the side flaps a bit fiddly to construct, so I leave them constantly zipped and my pup gets into the carrier through the top middle section. I do fear he will outgrow getting into the carrier this way and when he does it will be much more of a process to construct the top section before every ride. The bracket to secure the carrier to the bike is not included so will have to be purchased seperately. On the plus side this means that other items in the Rixen Kaul range can be used when the Doggy basket is not in use as the bracket is universal for thier products.I have been using this item for 4 months and ride on average 25 miles a week. Our dog currently weighs 5.5kg and is creeping up towards the maximum suggested load of 7.5kg and personally I am hoping he does not grow much bigger as this is the maximum weight I am comfortable with on the front of my bike. If he shifts to one side in the carrier it affects my steering which is slightly dangerous to say the least! Also as he has grown I have had to tighten the cables about once every 5 days as his weight sags the carrier down over the weeks commute.There is a small oval cushion which is removeable, but personally I would rather this be attached to the carrier as my pup can easily dig it up and end up underneath it.All in all I am very impressed with this carrier and would recommend it for smaller dog breeds. It's not perfect but I reckon is the best of the bunch! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love it and the dog loves it *by S***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 March 2020* I commute with my dog everyday about half an hour on the bike. Dog feels very safe and secure in this bike carrier and I am not at all worried about her jumping out etc. which in turn means I can concentrate completely on the road. Definitely worth the money and so easy to attach / take off the bike. Bonus that doggo LOVES it. She can put her head out and and rest her chin or lie down inside if she wants to sleep. It's perfect.For size reference, my dog is a 5.7kg Toy Cavapoo and fits perfectly with enough room to lie down (all snuggled up) if she wants to. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good to travel with a Pug - but with lots of room for improvement *by J***J on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 July 2012* I have a Pug weighing between 7 and 8Kg and I have travelled so far more than 60 miles with it since I got it in late April. My dog likes to see the view whilst I am biking and this basket allows just for that as it has a transparent protector and zips for the rain and wind. I have used it to take him to the vet as the bus service here is unreliable. There are pockets on the sides so that I can use them to put items in, such as a leash or poop bags.My first gripe with this product is that the basket could be a bit wider so that he can be more comfortable when he wants to sleep inside. My second gripe is that the harness that is used to secure the dog could be made of a stronger rounded rope (similar to what surfers use as an example to attach the board to the ankle) instead of a flat nylon restraint as the reason is that he moves around the basket and the restraint twists. The plastic hook is very tough to attach it to the dog harness and I believe a metal carabiner could be used instead to quickly flick it in place to the harness loop attached on the dog. Thirdly, there could be space for a bike lamp as the basket does take all visibility space from the handlebar.
