I own two Govee Floor Lamp 2 units and have been enjoying them. These are really neat lights capable of a wide variety of colourful effects and modes. You can also use it like a normal lamp, too; I'll talk about that first. It's a minimalist design that slightly looks like a giant toilet bowl brush. My mother pointed that out, and now I can't unsee it! But I think the lights look fine. You have a light strip that slots into a groove in the main tube (which you assemble yourself with six tiny screws and an included screwdriver), and there's a base that itself has several LEDs all the way around it. If you didn't yet know, every single LED in this lamp is individually addressable, so you can spend all day picking specific colours for each one (in the app) if you want! As a basic light, you will definitely not want the bare LEDs facing you—this light is clearly intended to be used facing toward a lighter-coloured wall or a corner. They are blindingly bright when facing you directly. That said, these lights are rated at 1725 lumens, which you'll only get at a very specific setting (some shade of warm white), and they don't really fully light up a room the way a typical lamp might. If your goal is to provide blindingly bright workshop-style lighting in a room, these aren't ideal—these are much better for indirect accent lighting. That said, for some dim lighting, these are wonderful as you can set them to a wide range of shades of white or colours, and they go quite dim (with some caveats, which I will mention later). There's an included remote that can be stuck to a clip that you can install anywhere along the shaft of the lamp. The remote is handy for basic, coarse lighting adjustments, switching it on/off, etc., but in most cases, you'll want to use the excellent Govee Home app, which offers a wide array of features. The Govee app unlocks an insane array of lighting effects, including adjusting the colour of specific segments and the light's base, preset themes, which can animate and have adjustable animation speed, music mode that can use a built-in microphone to respond to the beat of music, and a "DIY" mode that lets you create all sorts of crazy effects, even using the help of some sort of "AI" LLM. However, my results with that have been underwhelming. I like the "finger sketch" mode that lets you drag across a representation of each LED in the lamp to create extremely specific patterns and colours on all the lights. The control and capabilities that you have from this unit are amazing. The lights' colours are very bright and vivid. There are also enough LEDs and sufficient diffusion that the colours of different LEDs blend and mix really well. Govee definitely knows what they are doing when it comes to making a product like this, and the quality of the lighting and the app are extremely good. One limitation of this product is that if you want a really specific colour at a really low brightness, the fidelity of the colour you get may be lacking. This is a common problem with RGB LEDs due to the granularity of the adjustments of each of the red, green, and blue components. Unfortunately, I can't get the "barely there, dim orange glow" effect I sometimes enjoy, as the lights end up looking yellowish or red. This probably isn't a dealbreaker for most people; you can work around this by "Finger-sketching" a few of the LEDs at around 6% brightness, but then you can't easily recall this using HomeKit. It's possible to group multiple of these lights and run them together so that the lights are synchronized. I have two of these, and it's a great way to use them. In the Govee app, you can create a group and control them just as you'd control a single light, although there are a few features that you don't seem to get in this mode, like the handy "snapshot" feature, which lets you quickly save and recall a setting. One feature that was important to me was the Matter support, which allows these lights to work with HomeKit. My first attempt to set these up with HomeKit was difficult, and I couldn't seem to get it paired. After resetting the light, the pairing in the Apple Home app went much more smoothly. If you intend to use Matter or HomeKit, I suggest taking care of that first before setting up the light in the Govee app, which you can do after. That said, HomeKit can't harness the full potential of these lights. You can turn them on/off, brighten/dim them, and change colours. But what you can't do is set fancy scenes or effects to recall using Home or Siri, which is a shame. It'd be nice if you could create nice effects or multi-coloured presets and then export them as themes to HomeKit. Nonetheless, Matter integration is useful, as I often just use these as accent lights that show a single colour. Overall, I'm happy with these lights and think the pricing is reasonable for what you get (despite the weird coupon/discount situation that seems to change daily), at around $130 CAD. It's the price of a couple of Hue bulbs but with way more power and capabilities. For some fun and flexible accent lights, you can't go wrong with Govee!

I bought this lamp for a purely utilitarian reason - Vive Ultimate Trackers needed bright, even lighting around my room, and my nighttable lamp, wall spotlight, and ceiling fan didn't cut it. I'm usually wary of paying 3 figures for LED lamps as dubious quality LEDs can be used, we all know the corners cut in these devices. But this one worked beautifully. Installation was fairly quick and easy - screw in some metal plates between three metal tube structures, then slide the soft LED strip right in. Setup was fairly easy - I purchased Govee products before, so it automatically recognized the lamp without much hassle (I had to find the 2.4 Ghz password). The lamp has very even lighting up the strip, which goes to my chin. Casting against a wall corner brings soft, even light to the room. I was impressed by was the versatility. I expected a silly RGB panning thing, and there are features for that, but what I got was the ability to change brightness and color temperature! I made two nightlight presets, both 2700k, one at 5% for when I need to use the restroom, another at 1% when I'm just in bed and need a little light to see something close by. I've been frustrated with my lighting options for nightlights as I have particular sensitivies, but being able to dim the lamp that much and get nice lighting, and save those presets as a button in the app was an unexpected surprise! It's really hard to think of anything I don't like, here. Some of the motion can be a bit jittery. If you have an uneven floor, I don't think the lamp has any adjustments for the bottom feet. And it would be nice for 5ghz Wifi to be an option. Or, at this price, maybe even something remote. Otherwise the light is beautiful, the app works well, and I have no major complaints! It exceeded my expectations, which is very difficult to do. I will definitely be looking at more Govee products in the future.

The Govee Floor Lamp 2 completely exceeded my expectations. The brightness is impressive at 1725 lumens — it easily fills the room with light, whether I’m using it for relaxing ambient lighting or full brightness while reading or working. The RGBIC feature is fantastic. Being able to display multiple colors at once creates beautiful lighting effects that look modern and high-end. The transitions are smooth, and the color accuracy is excellent. It really elevates the atmosphere of the room. I also love the flexibility between warm and cool white lighting. The warm white is perfect for evenings and relaxing, while the cool white works great for productivity during the day. Setup was straightforward, and integration with Alexa and SmartThings worked seamlessly. Voice control is responsive, and the app offers plenty of customization options without being overly complicated. The build quality feels sturdy and premium, and the slim design fits nicely into corners without taking up much space. Overall, this lamp combines performance, smart features, and great design at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their lighting setup.
