Benlee Rocky Marciano Leather Sand Sack Gloves

When I work on the heavy bag I usually use boxing gloves or some type of training glove. Sometimes I use a 16oz and sometimes a 12oz, with wraps. I read somewhere that a lot of the great fighters used to use bag mitts rather than gloves. Champions such as Rocky Marciano and Jake LaMotta, would use mitts on the heavy bag in training. Even the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa is seen using bag mitts while hitting the heavy bag in the films. So I thought I’d check out these Benlee bag mitts. First time putting them on there’s a strong leather smell, and it closely fits the hands, it’s comfortable for me but someone with larger hands might find them too fight. They are fastened using a Velcro strap that loops around your wrists. They are also very stiff at first and can feel restricting but like leather gloves they require a breaking in period. After 30 mins on the bag I really liked them, they fit great around your hands and I wasn’t hurting my wrists either, my arms and hands were sore afterwards because of the pounding and lesser padding, but these will certainly toughen your hands up. This is a small pair which are roughly 26cm long from top to bottom and 14cm from left to right across the top of the mitt. So if your hands fit within those measurements you should be alright. Make sure when you’re striking the bag to make a proper fist and hit correctly, I didn’t injure my wrists and felt quite supported by the mitts. I didn’t wear wraps with them and my knuckles were sore and peeling a little afterwards, but that’s okay for me. Other folks might want more protection for their hands. I’m happy with my purchase and certainly recommend these mitts to anyone frequently using a heavy bag. A solid pair of mitts 👍🏻👍🏻
