Complete guide to making macrame masterpieces!
I stumbled upon this author while reading the June/July 2018 issue of Where Women Create. I did macramé in the 70s and always enjoyed doing it. The inspiration I found in this book has given me the jump start to get back into the craft! She includes all you need to know, to having the right tools, to how much rope to purchase. Her instructions are easy to follow and her designs range from beginner to 1 to 3 '+' marks for level of difficulty. The photography is beautiful and ignites the passion to create your own masterpiece. I highly recommend this book!

EASY TO LEARN
I have used SO MANY craft books in my lifetime and this one is a rare treat. Her step by step instructions actually make sense. You actually can see how she got from step A to step B. I was happy with the results and my macrame planters are getting more complex because she taught me HOW to do the basic knots and how to incorporate them into anything I want to make. Loved the process and the results!

Absolutely beautiful ode to the art of macrame
This is an absolutely gorgeous book on all things macrame. From recounting the history of the craft to in-depth crafting instructions, this is a must have in any maker's library. It is a beautifully written book and the projects are so intricately styled and photographed that I found myself turning the pages not only for inspiration in what to make, but also for how to style the projects (and even rooms in my home.)

Like the Book - Ignore Recommended Products
I love this book, and the projects in it are creative and beautiful. For one of the projects - the Many Diamonds Rug - I decided to go to her website for the suggested balls of yarn used in the project. Each ball of yarn is $52, and the project calls for a total of 11 balls of yarn. This is an astronomical price ($572) to pay for something if you're looking to make it yourself as that doesn't even include the HOURS you will spend making it.Her website gives the background story of the yarn coming from Kathmandu, being woven by hand for 3-4 hours, etc. That's great that you're selling ethical products. I just think it's ridiculous to ask someone to pay almost $600 on materials for one project if they decide to use the same colors/materials you use in your book.

Good Modern Book on Macrame
I'm fairly new to macramé, and have bought a lot of macramé books this year. This is one of the better ones. The instructions are easier to understand than most, and when the written instructions are confusing, at least the photos are helpful. Unlike most books, Katz makes the majority of these projects using just the most basic knots (square and double half hitch), so you don't have to learn the more complex ones. I love projects like the trivet, plant hangers, and jar covers, although there is an easier way to make those jar covers that doesn't require you to take the cover off to complete the bottom. My main complaint is that a lot of the materials she uses are really expensive and difficult to find. For example, her placemats require 4mm hemp rope, and if I were to purchase that rope in quantities large enough to make them, it would cost me least $80. I'd love to make any of the chairs or daybeds, but you can't buy the frames for under $100. I'm too much of a beginner to experiment and adjust patterns, so that's a bummer. Her wall hangings are also very much not to my taste, and wall hangings are my favorite beginner projects, so that was disappointing. All that said, there are enough projects for beginners to make it a good purchase, and it's a beautiful book to peruse and get design inspiration from.

Beautiful projects, thorough how to
I’ve been following Emily Katz for some time now and when she said she was writing a macrame book I just couldn’t wait to read it. I pre-ordered it and when it arrived, i was totally thrilled. This book really delivers on so many levels. The projects are inspiring and the directions are very thorough. The bonus is the placement of the macrame pieces in the some beautiful interiors.I found the entire book so worth every penny!

Great style inspo & craft ideas
I bought this book because I'm a huge fan of Emily Katz's instagram and sense of style. So I mostly bought it for the pictures and styling inspiration, but I found out that it has some great project ideas! I had eyed the macrame tent from her Instagram and the instructions are in the book! There's also a project for a chair, a shower curtain, and woven jars, which I really want to make. Get this book!
