As others have mentioned, these are thoughtfully designed and attractive. The second indentation can be used for shells or as a salt and pepper well. I wish that the finish was more matte / less shiny, but no other complaints.

I love soft boiled eggs, and I've gotten porcelain egg cups in the past, but this is the first set I've seen that has it's own space for the egg tops to sit, so I don't need a second plate to put the shell on. My kids prefer hardboiled eggs, so they use the larger divot in this wood block to pour salt and pepper into, which they dip their hardboiled egg into. I wouldn't have thought to do that, but it just goes to show how versatile this set is for eggs of all kinds, and every preference for eating them.Simple, minimalist, and easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth. I think it would fit great in most modern kitchens.

Have you ever had a soft boiled egg and could not figure out where to put it. It rolls around on the plate, it rolls from side to side in a bowl. And its also too hot to hold. Here is the solution. Place the egg in the area on the left side and then when you break the shell you can put the pieces in the shallow area of the right. Comes with four holders. Now if I can just find 3 other people that like soft boiled eggs, I'm set.

Having lived for 30 years in Germany, soft-boiled breakfast eggs have become a must have. And, none of that; dumping the contents of the egg into a small bowl for me. I want a proper egg cup, thank you.While I usually tend more to the standard conventional style, these caught my eye. It's always been a problem, as what do you do with the top eggshell, of the egg, the part you've chopped off, to get into the egg? Place on the tablecloth, or on your breakfast plate? Both are not a good idea. Up to now, a proper table setting needed an additional small container, to deposit them in.So while these are rustic, I like the concept. It's very functional.
