Clean looking, lightweight, light duty boots.
These Columbia boots arrived today, and I wanted to supply my initial impressions to help in your decision making.Firstly, these appear to be a great value. Columbia has an upper-mid tier reputation mostly for design and materials. They're not known for longevity, but they perform as expected during their service-life. These boots appear to be of better than average construction and design, using quality materials. The seams are virtually flawless, as are the welts. Good quality laces and hardware. These look sharp. The fit was precise, and not sloppy. The footbed is neutral, so if you have higher arches and need more support you'll appreciate a set of support insoles. My wife noted a slightly compact forefoot profile around the ball of the foot. Those with higher volume in the forefoot may choose to 1/2 size up... especially for vigorous activity. Otherwise, these are comfortable, and offer good traction. There isn't much rigidity to the sole, and these flex easily and are nimble.I note these aren't exactly backpacking boots, or long distance hikers. These are sporty, featherweight boots best suited to weekend warrior types. The midsole is essentially running shoe foam, and will not be suited or durable in a harsher utilization categories. These are best suited as a light duty, weekender, occasional, type utilization. Which they seem great for.All things considered, this seems to be a well rendered boot with sufficient quality, design, and execution to keep 90% of potential customers quite happy. I'd expect a reasonable degree of durability in light duty applications. Should last one to two seasons under those conditions.
